Pay It Forward Number 9... Number 9... Number 9

I aim to misbehave.

You know, I think this would be a good time to pay a Kershaw Volt II forward. It's the stainless steel version.

Post a picture of something you've whittled (not a pointy stick, but an egg works just fine) to claim it. It's dull, and I never bothered to sharpen it. I took it apart twice, once to take out the assisted opening, the second to put it back in because the knife doesn't really work without it.

I'll post pictures here sometime soon.

This is a claim (if it hasnt already been claimed) here is a shark thing i did a while back. http://s1000.photobucket.com/user/bp...11bfa.jpg.html

I'm gonna toss this Gerber into the PIF bowl. As it seems to be working well with others, I'd like the two following conditions be met: (a) Must live in US, and (b) Have already offered something up on here (this or past PIF threads).

Hey loonybin,

I got the stone today. I have got to say that I may have found a new love in free hand Sharpening.

I practiced first on a beat up Enlan and I got that in very sharp shape with relative ease. After I had successfully defeated the magazine paper, I decided to move on to something less soft than 8cr13mov.

So then I go to work on a D2 leak. I can already tell going from one to the next I had gotten better.

Using the 400 grit stone and a stop block, I was able to get a very clean edge in about as much time as it takes to boil water.

I want to thank you again for letting me experience free hand Sharpening. I know I'm going down the rabbit hole on this one.

I tried to get a couple shots with my phone but this is the best I could accomplish.

You've got me itching to try freehand again, but the last few times I failed miserably (closest I do now is the guided rod system [dont know if mentioning name is ok, I'll avoid it])

If i manage to take a deer this weekend i am going to try gutting it with a Svord Peasant friction folder from a previous PIF thread. If this is an idiotic idea someone let me know please. It managed to open my thumb with great ease, so i imagine it should be up to the task.

Not far fetched at all. I used my Izula2 last year with ease. I did end up wanting a bit more edge length just because that little amount of edge dulled a bit quicker. But it handled the job.

I have another of these to offer, my only request (other than shipping within the US) is that it goes to a veteran (if active duty, I can pull the red/white/blue so it can be worn in field, or show recipient how to if they are going later)

Thanks SM, appreciate the advice. It will be my first try using a carbon steel blade in this capacity

It's a little idiotic.

The poly scales have good grip but if the point sticks anywhere in the meat or inside the body cavity , what have you, there's danger of sliding your hand up on the blade.

I have ways of using the svord in many roles including a loop tied finger guard.

Also, as far as tip up carry goes, the peasant is designed to open one handed in a tip down position; changing that would not make it possible

Decided to put something else up--something I am hoping someone will get some use out of--Its not the greatest but it was a very kind and thoughtful gift from a friend. I just dont use it. It would be good for a kid or someone just starting out with knives. I believe its a Bushmaster-the ones you can get from Wally World. Also giving a Cincinnati Stone--It needs to be cleaned up a little--and one of those little infinite match thingys. put zippo fluid in it and then remove the striker and strike the flint/firesteel on the side---I cant ship it til after Thanksgiving--Must take it all--

Understood, and thank you. Will still probably try though

I'm not a veteran or active duty but I have a lot of family that is.

Any chance I could claim it? I try and show support for them as much as possible and this looks great.
