Pay Pal Only.....

If I am not in a big hurry for the cash I do not mind a USPS M.O. at all,the local PO will cash them.As far as other M.O. they can and have been a pain in the butt to cash.
Most of the time I list something for sell because I need the cash fast.I have a PP debit card and can pull it for anything as soon as it hits the account.
I have always been happy to accept a M.O. for the lanyards or monkey fists I sell.I just can't see asking for PP only on those.

The standard PayPal fee is 2.9% + $0.30. Just posting for anyone that doesn't know. I never understand when people want to up the price 4%. I don't see it here very often though.

I don't have credit cards or PayPal. If (you) don't trust ME enough to accept a Postal Money Order from me, then you've lost out on an honest buyer...That's how I look at it.

I would trust you, just because you list a logging town as your location!!
But it's not about trust, it's about 15 minutes of the seller's time, and is your business
worth leaving the house and going to the bank?, when a paypal buyer just sends instant electronic dollars.

Like people never go to their bank (even the drive through window) or their post office? It's no big deal to cash money order and there's no fees involved.

Actually there is a fee involved.

Yeah a 1.05 or so for the buyer to purchase it. No paypal fees for the person receiving the money, like always, unless you lie and claim it's "gift" or "personal" like so many here do. (or ask the buyer to cover it for you) I look one day for paypal to wise up and stop the option to pay anything with those tabs.

I add PP's fee to my selling price so I end up with what I want. I also add shipping cost, so the buyer only has one price to deal with. I also consider the price of transportation to the post office and postage to send a money order. That, plus the added convenience of instant transfer from home, evens things out for me. If I need to send a larger sum of money, then the MO makes more sense. Generally I'll do $500 and less through PP, more for Ebay auctions where the fee is taken out of the winning bid not added to it.

If I'm a buyer and I don't know you, I won't do the deal if it's not paypal. It provides buyer protection that I want with the price of some of the knives I buy. If I'm a seller, I don't want to deal with the whole "check is in the mail" thing. With paypal, I get an email that the funds hit my account, and I send the knife out the same day. The paypal fee is worth it to me, as paypal saves me frustration and makes the transaction quicker and easier. With seller's I know, I pay however they want me to pay. With buyer's I know, I accept payment however they want to pay. But with strangers...you may be the most trustworthy guy in the world, but I don't know you. Just the way it is....

Last time I got a USPS MO was for a $400 knife. The buyer had to go to the PO, I waited almost a week for it to arrive.

Then when I could make time, I went to the PO to cash it. It took me 40 mins from my door to the PO, parking, in the long line, and then home.

PayPal comes that night of the sale, and it (would have) cost me $12 because I won't inconvenience the buyer with this nominal fair fee.

$12 for guaranteed payment, to save a weeks wait, and 40 mins of my time. Worth every penny.

That's why. I'll work with people on a MO if you are solid (like Dann) but jeez, it's SO much easier. Time is money.

A couple years ago there was a lot of fake money orders people had to deal with ,probably why western union don't like cashing them. To me money is money and I will take it anyway I can get it regardless if its a MO or PayPal or even a personal check. I do prefer a money order from the USPS though. A debit card works for paypal.

Paypal is something I like to avoid since they keep the money for days before letting you transfer it to your bank. Not only that, they charge exorbitant fees.

You don't have to go to the post office to cash a MO. Banks work fine, and there is no line to speak of.

Thats not the case with me. You pay me tonight I can transfer the money to my bank tonight.
And it takes me a min 5 bucks in gas + time to go to the bank. Never a line at paypal

Maybe you have a business account or something. The way it works for everyone else is as I described.

Need a good reason for Paypal? They just refunded the money I sent to Roadhog, AKA Joe Rossi who ripped off several collectors. If I had sent a check or money order I'd be out the cash.

I have had a business account for the last year or two but before that I had PayPal for years and still could get my money whenever I wanted , I think it was called a premier account ? Seems like PayPal had 3 types of accounts ?? Upgrading to a premier account wouldn't cost anything I don't think

By getting a Paypal VISA you would be able to withdraw $400 per day from any ATM.

I tolerated the inconvenience of waitting till I made a $1.5K sale through Paypal and I know it will take months to get it all transfered to my bank, that's when I started to inquire about the Paypal VISA.

I've had it for years and all I do with the Paypal VISA is to withdraw money from my PP account, never had a problem.

I used to only take M/O's....i never wanted to deal with PP....finally i gave in and still take a M/O from time to time...these days if I unload a knife it usually to reload my paypal so i can make another purchase....PP fee's suck but it's the price to pay for the ease fo a transaction at times.

I have bought and sold multitudes....i have received cash....sent cash....sent and received tons of M/O's...tons of PP transactions.

It's all good clock...there's tons of knives out there....someone will take your M/O.:)

BTW, clockman is a friend...we have done several transactions and he is as solid as they come (IMO):thumbup::thumbup:

Not sure what you're talking about. I frequently do transactions of that amount or more and I can transfer it all to my bank account. All you have to do is verify your account and paypal lifts the max withdrawal limit. It has never taken more than 3 days for the money to hit my bank account.

From the paypal website:

"If your account is Verified, there’s no limit on the total amount of money you can send from your account. You can send up to $10,000 in a single transaction. (This amount can vary, though, depending on your currency.)

If your account is Unverified, there’s a limit on the total amount of money you can send from your account. To lift your sending limit, get Verified."
