What is it with all the sale threads stating F&F only? ... Haven't we all learned a damn thing yet?

I have seen a dozen sale threads in a couple days demanding F&F only ... one even saying if you pay with G&S it will be refunded and refused. WTH?

Seriously I can't believe anyone would even consider this still unless you know and are veryyy sure you know the person and trust them completely.

I can't even believe members actually allow it to continue ... to post a sale thread demanding F&F only after all the messes that are all too well documented.

I hope no one buys any of these ... maybe that will tell people that want to sell to stop the B.S.

Rant over ... just still unbelievable.

Yeah... I pass up any sale thread that has F&F only, regardless of how much I want the item or how good of a deal it is. If both are offered, I pass it up if the seller is too lazy to calculate their own total cost and just say “net to me.” If you can’t be bothered to figure fees/shipping, how useful will you be if something goes wrong during the transaction...

There are lots of stupid people in the world. I'd suggest not interacting with them if at all possible. Fortunately, the exchange is open and free. Easy to avoid idiots when they proclaim themselves with f&f nonsense.

I don't consider buying from sellers asking this either ... but it still just blows my mind how many ask for it ... and even more how many still willing to do it ...

and I agree everyone has to make there own choice they are adults ... again it just shocks me at how many ads recently it's not even an option it's demading F&F only ...

just hope people start refusing to buy that way and maybe sellers would be forced to stop asking.

Folks should never buy anything from anyone demanding F&F. If that seller decides to just ship you a faulty knife or an empty box, there's no buyer protection for you and you're just screwed out of your money. I figured that a lot of folks would learn this being on this forum, but some folks just never learn. Unless I know and trust you, I will never pay F&F for anything, it's just too easy to get ripped off paying that way.

F&F stinks...also...
I don't like the "add 3.5% for G&S" either. You gonna force me to do math to find out your price? Bad enough I have to do with discounted sale items. 20% off of $13.96?! ....2...x....2.....carry the four.....AAAAAARRRRRRRHHHHH!

That's just weird
It's one thing to be too cheap to pay the fees and pass them on or too dumb to add them in, but I wouldn't touch a F&F only sale-just a host of problems there. Besides ripping off PP ,they likely aren't going to cover any loss in shipping or item not as listed, presuming they ship it at all.
Stay Away

Paypal fees are 2.9% + $0.30 folks, not 3.5% or 4.273216%

Correct but only if the payment issuer's PayPal account is a U.S. verified account.

In case of international which includes Canada, this is the fee structure from PP's site page:

International sales 4.4% transaction fee plus a fixed fee based on currency received.

Sure, just burst my bubble then why don'tcha? :p

Most of the folks that deal here on BF are going to use MY numbers I posted above! At least they should, instead of 3.37105521%

And you don't really have to "cover fees" per se... just increase what you want to net by fees/shipping/insurance... buyer ends up covering (in the sense that you get your original ask) without it being a huge issue and you give them the additional confidence of PayPal G&S protection... simple!

I think that some new members who just show up to sell, just tend to scan over some sample sale threads without actually reading the Exchange rules and recommendations, see some are asking F&F and then they think that's just fine. While tempting to remind these folks on their actual sales thread that such practices are seriously frowned upon by the majority, that also breaks the Exchange rules and the Supers take a negative view of such "friendly" reminders if posted on the seller's FS thread. PM is always the best way to caution the new comers.

However, there is no excuse whatsoever relating to those so called BFC veterans who continue this egregious practice. Fraud can go both ways and some of these folks will end up learning the hard way when a buyer who happens to also be a scammer ends up doing a chargeback on F&F claiming fraudulent payment. The seller will not have a leg to stand on in those cases. I skim past those who solely request for F&F, no matter how nice of a knife or deal.

I don't sell alot but I want to make ir as simple of transaction as it can be ... especially for the buyer ... I post what I feel is a fair price and my covering the PayPal fees and shipping is the small fee I paid for trying a knife I was interested in and finding it just wasn't one I would keep and use ...

and won't even mention the screwing PayPal over trying to avoid fees ... I know most think they can handle the liss but for what PayPal gives us ... isn't it worth the small cost for the service?

just my 2 cents worth ... I just hope to see less F&F demands ... there are alot of knives that get passed up quickly by many just because of that.

On here yes! Most people, me included, avoid international transactions just because of the nature of the merchandise which we sell on here and the potential liabilities with transit, customs, etc! I let those who factor in 3% instead of 2.9% + 0.30 (let's call them mathematically challenged and/or lazy) squeak by because it's close enough to not fuss over but 3.5%, 4%, yada yada is just an additional tax charged by the seller for his own pocket!

International used to be 3.9% plus the 0.30 but PP not only bumped that by an additional 0.5% but also weaseled in the verbiage on that surcharge to: per country of origin.

Surprising number of "veteran exchange users" who routinely request F&F and or do the NET TO ME thing if you insist on using G&S  Buyer beware - don't'cha know.

Ray

That's what bothers me the most, is the ones that have tons of feedback, yet still request F&F. They are the ones that should know better and set a better example for the newer sellers here.

... like they're doing us some huge favor by selling stuff they want our money for.

This, especially. Where else on the planet do you buy things and have to calculate your own price?
