PayPal SUCKS...AGAIN!

here's my screw you PP story...

about a week ago i received notification from Paypal that from this point on, all money i receive through Paypal would be held for 21 days before i could access it. It would from now on be considered a "pending" transaction.

As you can imagine this is horribly inconvenient for many reasons.
1 quick example: I just put my TAD Gear spectre LPR hoodie up for sale, with all intentions to use the money to buy a new stealth hoodie, which as many of you know is time sensitive. I just sold my Spectre, but have no access to the money which i need to pay for the stealth!

I called PP today and spoke to an account supervisor, who explained to me that this "Hold on my account", as he put it, could have occurred for a number of reasons. He mentioned, customers with high numbers of dispute incidents will receive a hold such as this, to serve as probation.

I begged him to please look into my account and check for disputes, in either paypal or ebay (same company). He came back after 3 minutes and confirmed in 7 years of business i have 0 disputes or negative claims in both ebay and paypal. I have 43 positive ebay transactions, and even more Paypal transactions with no problems. I am a 100% +feedback eBay customer.

I again begged him to remove the "hold" from my paypal account. He came back to me explaining, all i have to do is get my ebay feedback account up to 100 positive transactions. He went on to say that, this "hold on my account" is paypal's way to encourage their customers to make more transactions. I was pretty much fuming at this point.

I explained right back to him... how is it at all encouraging to use a service that has just become horribly inconvenient. In 7 years i have absolutely no record of negativity, and now you're telling me the only way you can trust me is to sell or buy 57 more items on eBay? He tried to diffuse the situation by sharing more "helpful" information. He said, money from a specific transaction will become available sooner if the eBay buyer from that transaction leaves me +feedback. Unfortunately not every person on eBay takes the time to even leave feedback.

so, this is when he started really pushing my buttons. I then asked him about Paypal "Personal" method, which as we all know is commonly used for transactions among our forum members. I said to him there is no feedback involved in that, furthermore it is "PERSONAL!", yet i have to wait the full 21 days? He replied by saying, "ok this is simple, just have the person who sent you the money contact Paypal by email or phone".

I respond by saying... "are you kidding me? First off it took me 3 minutes of searching your website to even find this phone number, then it took me 10 minutes of entering my account information and choosing automated menu options just to get a person on the phone. then what do you do? are you supposed to say, oh yeah listen man, i just sent my buddy Ralph a gift of 100 bucks on paypal... it's cool!"

He told me yes, that is what you're supposed to do, call them and say i just sent money. After, there will be a review process and after that person is proven to be who they say they are, the money will become available.

If you couldn't already tell I'm freakin pissed off about this. It is a terrible policy that is poorly designed for Paypal and eBay to somehow make more money. I'm not sure about forum policy on cursing, but i'm sorry... this is total bullshit. Is paypal that insecure about there security systems to require someone sending money to make a follow up phone call confirming they are in fact the person who sent the money.

anyhow, i really hope i can just do USPS Money orders and personal checks from now on. I know that's possible in the forum world, but that will never fly on eBay.

I wouldn't let PP know you're using the Personal/Gift option for transactions. They'll lock your account in a heartbeat. I don't use it unless it's truly a gift.

I have only a credit card on my PP account and will never link it to my bank because of the horror stories.

I wonder if you can get some kind of Court order demanding PP free up your money????

From what i understand, they have a multitude of lawsuits against them.Ebay/paypal.But big deal if you're making $ billions a few dozen corporate lawyers can tie things up indefinately and you do pretty much whatever..Sux.

I went through the PayPal wringer myself about a month ago. A friend was on a speaking tour in Australia for a month, I drove him to the airport so he left his car parked on the street near my house (another huge scam story around that). Anyhow, his car was towed by the police and when I noticed it missing I called and found out he owed $400 on it and it was still racking up $40 a day storage charges. He sent me the $400 via PayPal so I could retrieve it and PayPal decided to place it under investigation for 3 weeks. When they finally released it after my constant bitching they held it for another week when I tried to transfer it back to my bank account. I have been a PayPal confirmed member since the damn thing existed and made me jump through hoops for a paltry $400. Never again will I use them go receive money.

I am convinced they do this crap to make a few extra bucks on the interest the get from holding it back a while. It made no sense, he was a certified or confirmed or whatever they call it member as well.

The car towing was a scam too. His car is legally tagged, registered, & insured in this city/county/state. The police said if a vehicle is parked more than a few houses away from its registered address it is considered abandoned after 48 hours . WTH!!! It's either pay the long term parking at the airport or get your car towed if you can't park at home. The street is not even a crowded street. Plenty of parking there.
I am stunned at the crap we let the govt. get away with these days. When I was younger people would never had put up with the stuff they do today.
