PB & Snark, Quartered with No Crusts

I think I'm going to sell some knives this weekend. I gotta get my gold back plus my wife and daughter are going on vacation soon. I'd like to give them some extra spending money and dusty knives aren't nearly as important as a happy wife and daughter.

Why everybody gotta be selling knives when I ain't got no spare money? Ya'll need to stop that.

I've got a Silky Big Boy 2000 and that thing is a MONSTER. It's so efficient that I've stopped bringing a chainsaw for much of our trail building work. All the Silkys cut extremely fast.

Yeah it looks pretty good. I like that pocket boy too, but it's about the same size as my Opinel #12 saw I think. I already have half of them so maybe I need to get the other half.

bighoss - hit me up when you have some spare cash and I'll make sure we work something out. :D

Gmoney - I've been meaning to get one of those Silky's for over a year now but just haven't done it. Are they really THAT much better than the Lapplander?

90% of a knife is made on a belt grinder. Of which I have 2 but there are the low end as far as belt grinders go. Looking at new ones, but damn, 3k for what I want.

I hear that. I'm trying to decide on spending $1K for another grinder that will work fine for what I need, or about $5K for a complete rig that will do everything I want. ;)

Some really cool saws in this video.

This may sound almost sacreligious coming from a guy who also makes big knives, but I really like folding saws. I have a LM Blast with a small saw, and a Lapplander medium one... I try to never go to the woods without them. This took about 3 minutes...

I've used a number of folding saws and none come close to the performance of the Silkys. The I have a three foot long bow saw that now barely sees any use because (the smaller) Big Boy is so efficient. The Pocket Boy is no different - small and easy to carry and cuts much bigger than its size. I like 'em!

But don't get me wrong, the Laplander is a nice saw.

Completely agree with you James. Modern small folding saws are incredibly efficient. They've become standard kit for us when we're out in the woods.

I like the laplander (and folding saws in general) because they are much lighter than a chopper. They may not be terribly versatile but for the cost in both dollars and weight they are well worth having around as an option. Great for short hikes, plenty to get you by in an emergency but they don't weigh you down.

Every time I see a axe vs knife vs saw debate I like to point out that if one were better than the others, nobody would buy the others and there would only be the one tool.

I'm more than excited.

Me as well :D

What im not so excited about is my xfinity "blast" internet service right now... The last few days the internet has been going on and off for hours at a time.. its not like the weather has been bad or anything either.

Work snark!

Im thinking that I should have taken today off......i tell myself this everyday but if i took the day off I'd be home with the kiddos, and work is more of a break then being at home lol

Yeah, didn't really need the tarp, but I thought I should just set it up so I know how when I need to set it up.

And these two came along to watch me screw up a couple times before I figure out what to do.

This thing comes with two layers of hammock plus the bug net. I shoved a blanket inbetween layers because it was supposed to get down to 50. I kept my bag open and just laying on top of me. I was nice and warm all night, but then it was only 50. I should have gotten this in the winter.

Plenty of room.

So this thing was pretty cool. Not hard to set up, once I figured out what to do. I did use the BK12, but that was more because I wanted to than I had to. More comfortable than the ENO doublenest, but I think I hung it a little too tight. I'll give it an extra half foot of slack next time.

Sweet pics bro!! I really like how it comes with the net!!

Do you have a doublenest?? Because it looks like the frontline hammock is only 2.7m x 1.4m or 8.8' x 4.5' wide and the doublenest hammock is 9' 4" x 6' 2"... Seems like the Doublenest would have a noticeable amount of more room??

I have the frontline, and the ENO I've used is a doublenest.
I didn't really need the extra room of the doublenest, in fact I felt like I was sliding around a bit much in it. I'm 6'1 and 175 lbs. Don't know how the frontline would feel for anybody larger than I am. Well, taller, not larger.
The website seems pretty confident that the frontline is comfortable for people up to 6'5, and 150 kg (330 lb).

710 scales are no joke lately. have you seen those beyondwoodproducts scales?? those are the bees knees

I got these ready for BK action, flat camo resin haven't posted them up on my site yet ,

Here is a set I finished some camo hybrid wood and resin

Another person, on another forum, told me they tried both the single and doublenest and preferred the singlenest because they felt more supported, so i guess that makes sense to me.

No worries bud i was just curious. Im only 68" tall and around 150 pounds, i like having extra room though.... But i have never tried a smaller hammock, except for rope ones, so i have nothing to compare the DN too.....

Yeah I noticed all the hammocks from DD Hammocks are around that size.
I also have no idea what the DD stands for.
