I went ahead and got some PBC No-Scale Heat-Treat Compound (both Regular and Special) in bulk quantities - to save cost per pound...and have a little extra on hand...:D

If you've wanted to try this stuff, but haven't wanted to lay down a lot of $$$ for it....now's your chance.

I am selling it in 1 lb. quantities for $10 (cheapest you can get it in bulk). It will come in a ziplock freezer bag. Shipping is USPS Priority Mail = $5. (by comparison, a 1 lb. container through brownells.com is $25 + s/h)

*SOLD OUT*

Thanks!

Don't forget to specify which you want (Regular or Special)

If you want more than 1 lb. shoot me an email - I'll gladly combine to reduce shipping costs.

the PBC Special is for steels that are 1600 - 2200 F

Dan, you're my hero. I'm pretty excited about trying some PBC out. Thanks for doing this for all of us!
Paypal'd you for some regular :)

Abrasive......it will coat many more if you put a piece of foil under the balde to catch the excess...lol. The stuff works as advertised but makes a mess if you just sprinkle it one willy nilly. Also make sure that you get rid of any bubbles.

Fixed the PBC Special link....strange, though...it was working earlier....well, works now!

Mike,

I'm not sure how many blades a 1 lb. will do. Took me 2 years to go through my first 1 lb. of it...but I am heat-treating quite a few more blades nowadays.

I sure would be interested if anybody has any round numbers/estimations.

And, as stated, it helps to have a catch pan for overspill.

Have 4 lbs. of Regular left and 11 lbs. of Special.
(this includes those who have sent funds via Paypal as well as by check)

I'm now out of Regular.

8 lbs. or so of Special left.

Can the Special be used for the simpler steels that the Regular is used for? Excuse the dumb question, but you're out of the Regular and I'd like some of this stuff.

Yes, Philip - you got in under the radar. :D

Danbo - the Special is rated for steels HT'd at 1600-2200F
The powder is darker, denser and creates less dust when using it. I suppose a simple phone call to rosemill.com might answer the question if it could be used for lower temps...but I thought it couldn't...so I ordered both.

Mine arrived today, think I'm gonna try it out tonight! Thanks!
Mike

Glad you guys got yours safe-n-sound.

Still got some Special left....Regular went FAST!
