People who like knives.....

Besides knives and guns, I'll usually get interested in something for a month, buy one, use it, lose most of my interest in it, then keep it around for when I need it.

Vintage computers
Power tools
electronic gadgets (GPS, PDA, cell phone, TI graphing calculators)

-Bob

I think you're the only one I've come across that also has a thing for vintage computer gear.

I'm a pretty minimalist guy myself when it comes to possessions. I give away, trade and sell much of what I own if I'm not putting it to good use or I know someone who needs it more than I do. I don't like owning much stuff either.

That said, you'd be hard pressed to keep me out of a used book store anytime I have money in my wallet. That, and I have a couple hundred albums on CD, LP and cassette....

I don't have many, but it only takes a few to make a large pile. The computers themselves aren't that large, but throw in monitors, keyboards, accessories, boxes of books and software...

I was told I had a 'flashlight fetish'. When I had my hotel, there was a shelf with about 20 flashlights including 2, 3 and 6 D cell maglights, an 8" searchlight that was fully sealed, AA maglights, 'zenon' flashlights, wind up flash lights, fluorescent flash lights, rubber waterproof flashlights, plus two of the Duracell flashlights that have a lantern and normal beam. Also had a duracell with a fluorescent light and beam, a rechargeable flashlight, and a number of flip-top flashlights. After writing all this, I think the person was right.

I also collect anything 'military', even stuff I would never wear or use!

Always had guns since I was 12. Always had a nice watch, Always had nice pens. Always had far more tools than I need, and 'stuff' I only used once. I have a set of left handed golf clubs, not used since I bought them last summer as it was 'too hot'.

In addition to knives I gotta thing for guns, flyfishing gear, bowhunting, good boots, watches and I have recently discovered flashlights. I would say my main problem is pictures. Not the photo in particular, but the trips all over to get them. Mostly hunting and fishing.

Motorcycles ,Honda 919 and a 73,CB350 caferacer project.
Comic books, Ennis,Brubaker(just killed Captain America)Bendis and Vaugn.
Enfield and Parker Hale Rifles.
Ford Muscle Cars ,my 65 Custom 500 has been neglected for my other hobbies
Just bought my first good Flashlight a Fenix L2P with a L1P body.
Anything from the Canadian military.
I have started getting into air rifles and G Shock watches.

I have a couple of nice watches around the $200.00 range. I have several fountain pens that I use daily as a server in a restaurant. People think I am crazy for using them to take orders, but I explain it is a matter of personal pride. They retail for almost $300.00 each. I have a thing for knives also. I love guns. I have a big thing for boots. I have so many. I have 16 pairs of cowboy boots, some Doc Martens, Rockys, and other hunting boots. I have Surefire and Streamlights. I also love expensive guitars. Basically I just love quality gear, whether it is a cheap Buck knife or an expensive Paul Reed Smith guitar. I just know and like quality. If I am doing something and it doesn't work out I want to know it is me not my gear.

Heh although I do mostly live bait fishing lately, I am instantly drawn by any lures I see. I dont collect them but have a couple cute ones.

So many hobbies so little time.lol.
I was a comic collector but gave it up and sold 90% of my collection long ago, a few years after i got out of highschool. Kills me when i see the overstreet price guide now with currents values! Luckily i still occassionally get to read them as a buddy of mine still has a 200$ plus a month comic habit!

Did the gun thing (longguns and handguns) to a limited degree within legal limitations (i am in Canada). But i sold off most of them to help pay tuition when i went back to school. Currently whats left are mostly utilitarian hunting type guns.

I love photography and camera gear as i have done a lot of work related photography, archaeology and museum related stuff. Also did some hobbyist macro and urban landscape stuff. Again most of my collection was sacrificed for education/living expenses. My kit now is strictly utilitarian, my old Canon A1 plus a few filters and lenses plus a low end digital camera.

The last "big" thing was guitars. I am not a pro musician just an amateur hobbyist "noodler". lol.Basically mostly its confined to playing/collecting/modding and some amateur luthiery. Not a huge collection ,mostly used electrics and acoustics (some American and some imported overseas stuff). Haven't bought anything new in a couple of years though. However i have been buying recorded music long enough to have a small remnant LP collection and a fairly large CD collection.

Regarding knife collecting that really started around junior high. I used to collect fixed blades, mostly bowies, but other than moras i haven't bought a fixed blade in 5 or 6 years. The past year or so i've mostly fixated on pocket knives, SAK's and multitools. Just now getting seriously into the SAK modding thing.

The oldest and longest running hobby is book collecting. My mother is a reader and from an early age (5 or 6) i was always taken along to second hand book stores.
Well thats it!

Let's see...

Knives, alot of pocketknives...Schrade mostly, but all types of other brands. Literally hundreds of knives.
Tools...I have 6 routers, don't hardly use any of them. Probably have enough hand tools to outfit 3 workshops..
Shoes...I'm no Imelda Marcos, but I like a good hiking shoe. Between work shoes and play, I have over 20 pairs of footwear.
Star Wars Cards...
Probably 6-10 flashlights, not too hardcore, Maglights, headlamps, etc.
Camping/hiking gear - I have 6-8 tents, but don't go camping much. Also have a half dozen packs...
I own 4 cameras - Yashica TL Electro, Canon T80, and 2 digitals.

Jackets, I have many, and can never find just that right one that suits my needs...

I am a pack rat...

Glenn

That reminds me I also like boots, I have several pair of Docs as well as some cool military boots like the goretex canadian prospectors and a nice pair of vibram resoled Mark 3's and the Merrels I usually wear.

I am also into books and tools although I pretty much have what I need for tools now.

Knives, guns, fishing rods,But the big addition is my archery equipment. I make most of my bow's and arrows but I just cant stop. The last time I bothered trying to count arrows I got to 600 with enough material to make another 1000 or so.

OK, so I'm part of the crowd with pens and guns to go with knives. My other "accumulation" vices are bicycles, backpacks, and running shoes.

I would like to see if other knife nuts like me are also into other "things".
Pens - I've spent more on pens than I did on my education.
Guns - I've spent more on guns than I spent on my house.
Tools - Tons of high quality hand tools and I don't even change my own oil.
Watches - I should have bought Big Ben, It would have been cheaper.
Flashlights - I could light the evening sky with all my Surefires.
Golf - I'm a decent golfer with a basement full of "The Best" equipment.
I don't think I am alone here. At least I hope not.

I'm an enthusiast for five out of the six items. My own list would subtract Golf and add Optics which includes telescopes, microscopes and binoculars.

Aside from "Sharp Things", my addictions include (but are in no way limited to and subject to change at a moments notice without notification to current girlfriend):
Jackets, Still on the quest for the perfect jacket(s).
Gloves. Must have the right gloves at all times.
Flashlights. (who knew that flashlights could become a medically recognized addiction?)
Don't even get me started on tools. I am solely responsible for putting the MAC guys kids through college (they drive really nice cars too!)
Boats.... I love my boat, I love buying gear for my boat. Marine stuff is WAY overpriced, but it is just too damn cool!

I'm not a golfer, but I throw a pretty mean dart. I only ever throw one set of darts, Why do I own so many????

HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS, DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS!

Guns, Knives, Ammo, old paper shot shells, Military items, and old duck hunting or shooting supplies.

Knives, are definitely it. Got to have a knife on me where ever I go. I like a good strap of leather to carry my knife. I also like pocket watches and carry a swiss army pocket watch. For the stuff I cannot carry on my person- I also like power equipment. Chainsaws, like my Jonsered, and generators like my Honda 2500 and the new Yamaha EF2600 Then there are my guns, and my canoe.

Knives & lights just seem to go together.
I also spend lots on DVDs, Suits, Watches, Bags & Organizers & Survival items.

I spend way too much on Fly Fishing and Fly tying (Salt wAter and Fresh Water). I also enjoy building fishing rods.
