People who like knives.....

Hey there, I love fishing but aquire most of my gear from my father. He has more gear than he knows what to do with so I just wait for hand me downs. With knives I don't have much money to collect other stuff. Though a good chunk of my income goes into fitness. I'm always willing to pay for good sparring equiptment and fightwear and my gym runs me $100/month. I wouldn't mind a few new guitars or bows though.

at a 100$ a month they had better be running your laps and doing your reps for you!

You'd think so, but it's not just a weight gym. It's a mixed martial arts facility. So for my 100 i get open access to the weights and cardio equiptment in addition to regular classes of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Thai Kickboxing. Theres also a fair bit of one on one instruction too and the mats are open for sparring or grappling when no classes are being held. Plus 100 buck a month is a good motvator to drag my backside off the couch and spend as much time there as possible. Cheers.

I don't like to have more than one item for a given purpose, so there's nothing that I actually 'collect' as such. So, in terms of knives, I have just one SAK, one folder, one fixed blade and one filetting knife. What I try to do is make sure that I have one set of really good quality gear for my range of activities, which include sailing, mountain biking, camping, muay thai and bjj.

I'm actually the only one in my family with any interest in gear. My father and brother literally have not a single thing which we would consider 'gear', and they find it amusing that I have accumulated so much stuff. They just shake their heads with incomprehension when I show them my latest aquisiton (which tonight happened to be a nice little Swedish firesteel). They actually give me a bit of a ribbing about it, but they're always thankful when I pull out just the right tool to get a necessary job done.

Main obsession is lights. Have a huge collection that keeps growing. I would link to my list at candlepowerforums, but I've been temporarily banned. :)
Lots of guns. Glocks, AKs, ARs, 1911s, Kahrs, revolvers, you name it.
Plenty of folders and fixed blades.
Plenty of EDC items like Atwoods.

Mrs. Powernoodle and I have no debt, have paid off the house, have the 401k and college for two boys funded, and I don't own a bass boat or go to the girly bars. So this is where I blow a little spare cash. Its all good.

cheers

Gun collection sold off after leaving Zimbabwe. Golf, banned from home club for offensive golf under the influence of J&B. Knives, lots and lots. Torches many, pens by the dozen in glovebox, desk humerous pen holder........

Outdoor gear in general. Mountaineering gear, sea paddling gear and multiple kayaks, backpacks, boots, bikes (both road and mountain) and things like that.

My old hobby/pastime used to be boating and fishing off the NJ coast. I had a lot of gear and sold almost all of it when I moved to Utah.

My new pastime is hiking and Jeepin' on the weekends. I just started canyoneering and spent a good sum on gear and lessons. Got a new pack coming today, can't wait. I go out with a friend that's a pro guide and he wants me to start trying some big wall climbing. Not sure this 63 yo body is ready for that. :)

Knives, guns and over the last year tomahawks and leather impact weapons (jacks and saps).
Oh yeah, tattoos, japanese art, japanese silver.....

My wife now hates the mail man. And paypal. And Online forums......

Wow.

Knives - but in the past several months buying has pretty much stopped.

Flashlights - I buy a new Fenix every year or so, I'm due.

Duct tape - Went on a buying binge last fall, I'm down to 12 rolls or so. (Gorilla Rules!)

Magnets - I have that addiction BAD right now. I spend more time looking at magnet sellers and ebay for magnets then BF!

GUNS! I think I'm over that addiction, and wamoo....I see something I "really could use". But right now knives are a really big problem for me...and I'm not going to seek profesional help, no way. Tools, I can't stop buying them, I do use them at work (carpenter) but I think I could make do with alot less of them. Food, I eat out at anyplace that catches my eye, everyday. Oh well.....edit: just so you get the idea, I have taught my wife to call me at work when a package arrives, I told her it would cheer me up...it does. I'm screwed.
