Perfect Folder in Hand

In use I favor neutral handle designs, favorites being the classic Mora and Opinel. Just to fondle and fidget with I like my Recon 1, Delica, griptilian, and Buck 110.

I dislike overly contoured or form fitting designs as it forces my hand in one position, I use different holds on the knife depending on what I am doing with it, so simple is good for me.

the big dogs are still sniffing around in the weeds.

I must admit you're right on.
I keep looking for a fairly thick handled (hollow) titanium with three to four inch blade and last night I landed on this thing. Gonzo brand $20. Not Ti but I might have ordered it if it were. Could be a bit thicker but that's what I'm looking for. I almost bought one of the fluted sunburst looking handled Spyderco knives until I saw how thin the scales are. Nope, nope, nope. I had my finger on the buy button for a fluted Milli then I saw the spec for the scale thickness; I think it is thinner than the regular Ti Milli.

ASLO when I saw my first Griptillian I first imagined the handle to be like the one on this seven dollar box cutter. Note the diamond pattern just like the Griptillian. By the time I actually bought the Grip I had matured and found out unicorns were a myth and found out the handles were more slick like nylon. The thing this knife has going for it beyond being fairly thick is the handle has a slight rubberized quality to it. The box knife SUCKS; the blades pop out in use, I have studied it closely but the reason is fairly subtle and not easily solvable. By the way it has one of the best clips too. Super robust attachment but nice and thin and long. Will even clip over a thick tool belt nail pouch or onto the thinest slacks.

Wannabe knife makers . . . buy one . . . study the clip . . . buy the rights to use it . . . PLEASE.

So yah . . .

The Gonzo knife you're admiring is a double knock off, firstly of the Lionsteel SR1/SR2 for styling & construction, secondly of Benchmade for the lock design. I bet they didn't pay for the rights.

ZT 0200 and Leatherman K502. I need a nice, thick, hand-filling grip, those slim little knives like a Knockout or PM2 or Endura are just too skinny and rectangular for my hand,

Out of the various models I've owned I'd say the Military is up there with my Gorgon being a close second.
That said, I'm really thinking the SMF might fit the bill quite nicely if it feels as good in hand as my EBLT.

Spyderco Persian. Then PM2, then Gayle Bradley, then Millie, then Manix. Benchmade Bedlam gets an honorable mention.

This, Kershaw 1987 (mine says 1986) RJ, which I got for free with a $500 Al Mar SERE folder, and which I like better than the knife I paid for...:

An RJ Martin design. $20-25, good centering, super positive assisted flipper opening, scratch-proof, very decorative yet very subdued handles, and generally pretty much perfection. 3 11/16" blade, so not even that small...

Unlike almost all folders whose handles are basically shaped like slabs, this has some real contours.

Holding an XM-18 3.5" for the first time was an ergonomic revelation for me personally. Emersons have also always had this affect for me.

Forgot this one, the infamous ruler handled knife

It's that neutral, symmetric and straight handle what makes it so nice to use and hold in almost any position, actually.

Just have to try it out for yourself to understand, any of the three sizes the Hold Out folders come in.

I have to add one more to the ones I posted before... just got my ZT0566 today. First time Ive held one. It fits me perfectly. When opened its got that slight end to end curve that I like.

Rounder handles fit my hand best. Moras, Opinels. Love them, almost never carry them. I tend to carry smaller, lighter knives, because they tend to carry better in pocket. Faves include MiniGrip, ZT0352 (I think, 3.25 inch blade, CF slab on the handle), SAK Recruit.

Victorinox gardner.
I love it because it has no bias to grip, it's just a simple cigar shape that you can hold it however you want. I can't stand a knife full of finger grooves because it tells me how to hold it.( sog seal pup is the only exception ) I control my knife not the other way around.
My buck 110 is also very comfortable, and so is my buck 482 which I hold with a sabre grip.
