For me I think it is 3 1/2". Weight is not a big issue, as long as it is about less than 3 oz. What do you prefer to carry?

About 3 1/2 down to 2 7/8th is good for me. For me it's weight. I don't like heavy objects in my pocket, so a 3 1/2 inch knife is going to have to be light.

Right around a 3" blade is perfect. I have larger and smaller knives, but that size seems to be the most useful without being too much to carry around

Knives between 3-5/8" and 4-1/8" are the sweetspot for me. I have carried knives from 3" to 5", but the extemes just don't "cut it" for me.

3 1/2" is ideal for me as well. I have some smaller and some larger, but that is the sweet spot.

3.25 inches closed is perfect for me, but I settle for 3.5 because more of the patterns I like are in that range. But as Jackknife said, weight is even more of an issue. I carry my GEC 62 congress more than my 85 jack even though the 85 is shorter. It's all about the weight. I hate having a brick in my pocket.

3.5-4 closed is my favorite. I like single blades, so i can go a little longer and still use my watch pocket with no problem... and the levis I like happen to have a freakishly large watch pocket.

I would have said 3 and a half inches; that covers most of my collection. Recently I got my first peanut which is a real down size for me for an everyday user. So far though, I have to say I have been pretty impressed. I haven't felt lacking in the blade department at all and I don't even notice it in my pocket although it doesn't feel flimsy in the slightest. Think I'll have to try a gec #25 or perhaps even an #06 before I make a final decision. That being said, tomorrow I have to do some fence repairs on the croft and I know I'll need something more substantial.

Erm I just don't know actually. Spectacular post fail from me. A roundabout of procrastination and still decision-less.

3 5/8" to 4 1/4" depending on the pattern; however, I haven't been carrying anything over 3 3/4" lately.

I would say from 3,25" to 3,5"...but it also depends on the pattern and shape and so on.
Somtimes, in certain situations, I like to carry something bigger, but no more than 4".

I think a 3-11/16" two blade jack with a 2-15/16" main blade is pretty close to ideal. I don't have it yet, so I might be mistaken.

My favorite carry for light EDC is my amber bone MCH that you folks have seen so much of. But, I am comfortable with knives in the 3-1/2 size and up to 3-3/4" closed. Bigger than that and I tend not to carry them much. Example of that phenomenon is that aesthetically, the regular Case trapper at 4-1/8" looks wonderful to me, but I'll reach for the mini trapper nearly every time because I'm more comfortable with that size knife.

This year I've bought nearly a sack full of GEC knives in that general size. Why do I need three Charlows, three boy's knives, and three eureka jacks? They are all in that sweet spot, but I only have 2 hands...

Exactly. I think that's why I also like the #15's and the #92 so much - they're all in the "perfect" size range for me. Plus, I tend to gravitate toward clean and simple, bareheaded jacks.

3-1/4" for me is perfect, but I can comfortably scale down to 2-7/8" Peanut or up to 3-1/2" Stockman, as long as they aren't too bulky or heavy.

I have a few in the 3-3/4" range, but they are all thin, single spring and usually single-blade knives.
