Perfect Length for a Traditional Pocket Knife

Between 3 1/2" and 4" closed length

I have found that for my edc uses, I like the 91mm (3.58in) Swiss Army knife size which contains a 2 5/8in blade I believe. They're big enough for most things, small enough to easily fit in a pocket, and thin enough to be good slicers.

My preferred working length 4" to 4 1/2" closed. This is based on my use of a Case Slimline trapper for 39 years and the AGR Wharnecliffe Sowbelly and GEC #23 that I'm using rather regularly.

I'm in the 3 1/4" +/-camp. Something like the Case SBJ or Buck Cadet really hits the sweet spot for me.

Depends on which pocket I'm going to be carrying in and what work I may have in store for me that day.

In general I carry a 3 5/8" knife in my back pocket vertically beside my wallet. For lightweight carry in a jeans watch pocket I may go down to a 3 3/8" (Case Pen) down to 2 5/8" (Small Stockman).

I guess for me there is no one "perfect" length for a pocket knife. There's what works for me in different situations. If I were forced to pick a length and only carry that one length it would be 3 5/8" (Case '032 pattern).

I may be in the minority here, but I like the bigguns, 4" & up. English jacks, toothpicks, full size trappers, folding hunters, big Bullet lockbacks, the GEC 53/54 frame... Those are my preferred range.

Although, I usually carry a smaller one in addition, like maybe a 3.5" barlow or swayback, just because I wanna. ;)

Based on what usually makes it to my pocket, I prefer 3.5" length knives. I use 4" knives a lot but usually carry them on my belt.

never really thought about it before
i looked at the 2 knives i carry most often

both are 3.5" closed

Peanut/pen knife/small stockman at 2 7/8" up to a premium stockman at 3 7/8" are my favorite sizes, with 3 1/2" - 3 5/8" being the "sweet spot".

Being that I am always in the city, I find ~3 to be my sweet spot. The size in the pocket is more of a premium for me since I don't have huge tasks in front of me.

Usually 3.5 and up. Depends on the knife, a spartan looks and feels a lot bigger than something like a resilience . Smaller knives don't do much for me, unless I'm out of state and laws dictate a small blade.

For a chef who sometimes open frozen boxes of random food, a small sebenza is nearly perfect.
