A Hog is a Hog, plain and simple; whether inducted online or in person at Blade. The big difference is that being inducted at Blade means that you have had the pleasure of meeting fellow Hogs and Hogettes along with the Busse crew. Blade is a LOT of fun and I have never heard anyone complain about attending, plus you may get discounts or win shop credits in the contests (even kids can try, as it is totally family friendly).:D:thumbup:

"I agree with your point about meeting folks in person. The internet swallows humanity. It is all too easy to lose one's identity in this faceless modern wonder

Connecting with people is the important thing."

It was nice to have that interaction in Busse's home state. (Columbus show).

It was the only gun show I have been to, that I could talk Busse with those that are as enthusiastic about the brand as I am.

No online induction needed. Just come down to South Florida for an awesome trunk show. I will show up.

All this will happen again.

Awesome!

What about those of us who have social and online anxiety? Those of us who proudly wield our INFI in the woods, and boast about our blades to a select few? What if we have INFI running through our veins ..but we sit back, for the most part, as silent observers of the community? Can we ever reach Hogdom?

I'm with Breavis on this one. If someone can't make it to Blade because it costs too much to go or has scheduling conflicts this year, but at the same time says they're qualified because of their extensive Busse collection, sell some knives to pay for your trip or make plans for the following year. We know the schedule well in advance, so if it can't be this year or the next, maybe the one after that. One FFBM pays for round trip flights and the hotel.

Actually round trip flights from Australia plus the hotel would cost roughly the combined value of an INFI WTF *AND* a Double Talon Battle Mistress, so it's not quite that simple. I imagine when the HOG inductions started, the international presence was far less pronounced than it is now. While I would never want to detract from those who have been able to make it to Blade, shaken The Man's hand, drunk the Scotch etc, some accommodation for the growing international HOG community would be a wonderful extension of the Bussekin family of blade aficionados.

I told my wife that we needed to go to Blade Show, and she was like " Is it in Portland? "

I said No it more like a few thousand miles away.

The look I got says we/me will not be going to blade.

How perfect would it be if we could have a Troughs Vegas show. Who can't fly to Vegas cheap? I hear drinking & partying goes on there too. ;)
