Petition for an online induction of new Hogs!!!!

Ok I'll go to Blade.

What happens there? How would I be inducted? What are the qualifications?

No matter how this goes down, let's remember that we are all brothers in INFI here. Many of us have similar interests in general, but we all have a love of high quality steel. I would be honored to have a beer with anybody here!

Exactly! Its about the steel not the status! All we can and should do is encourage one another on this wonderful thing we call knives :)

1. What Happens @ Blade Stays @ Blade.
2. Bring a pair of thong panties and practice your singing. Ladies, you'll need a pair of men's tighty whiteys and a Busse t-shirt. You (and the other Inductees) will be the entertainment on Induction night...but I've said too much already...
3. This is the easy part. Ya just need to own a Busse for HOG Induction. SRKW for Rat Induction, and/or SYKCO for Dog Induction.

Good Luck. :)
See ya there! ;)

I did not realize this would become so debated,

Maybe an online induction should be less than hog status, so the ones who have made the journey do not feel cheapened, but also the piglets who have fought hard to feed at the trough still get a little status boost.
As I mentioned to Jerry when we were discussing what ended up being our last little 'tempest in a tea cup' over over some comments made in his WTF offer thread, while his word is law, I'm just some long-winded goober with nothing better to do than argue an obscure point or two on an internet discussion forum. I do have some rather strong opinions about some things and am not particularly shy about offering them. This is also how threads go off topic.
I don't think that anyone disagrees with the idea that all who are interested should be allowed to participate. The question seems to be, as always, how. In the end, we speculate and bicker like family until Dad/Jerry tells us how its going to be. But like any busy parent (redundant, I know. All parents are busy.) he knows to let things go and let us try to work things out amongst ourselves until things get out of hand, feeling start to get hurt, and an adult has to step in to offer guidance. Mods do this as well by enforcing rules to help ensure that interaction is kept at at least a civil, if not friendly, level. Again, Jerry will let us know.

Why do you let what others do or don't do effect how you feel about yourself? You are no less a HOG simply because others who refer to themselves as such have not been able to experience all that you have. You have not just been to shows but also to Fogos and drank, smoked cigars and shot the breeze with the man himself. You and others like you are all the more HOG for your experiences. Senior HOGs, Uber-Hogs, Master Hogs, whatever you want to call yourselves.
I've made no secret of the fact that I am an on-line inductee, its in my sig line and I doubt that you or anyone would dare argue otherwise with Amy-0 herself bestowing said "honor" upon me. I am all too aware of all of the things that I would like to do and have not yet done for one or more of the myriad reasons that life can trouble one with. I do not feel diminished simply because you have done more. You need not feel diminished simply because I have not been able to do more. Its entirely up to you.
Pete

Not sure why you just made this personal. No where in my post did I say anything about how I feel about myself. Nor did I call myself any type of hog, senior, uber, whatever. I just stated my opinion and it infers nothing about your character or mine for that matter, just how I feel. Disguised insults will get you nowhere with me. In this day and age of everything being on the internet, I can see how this has changed how to be a hog. Heck you can get a degree on line, so why not get a hog designation as well. It's basically the same thing. At the end of the day, you were given hog status and it really matters not what I think. take care.

Except getting a degree online doesn't "cheapen" the degree for everyone else, right?

Does it? Is a Degree from Phoenix University the same as a Degree from Georgetown University or UCLA? Will employers look at them the same when they hire you? Good question Timmy.

Also. Family responsibilities. I've got my share with a 1 year old and another over 1/3 of the way cooked. I certainly know that you have yours Kniferman. ;)

Just because we can't finagle our way out of responsibilities to the ones we care about, doesn't mean that we shouldn't have a chance to be part of the club. Right?

I've got 16monther and another less than 1/3 cookin!

Blade for me is years away....

Totally different things. Being a HOG is supposed to be about comrodery and a love of the blades Jerry and crew make, right?

It sounds like youre saying that because you are lucky enough to have had the opportunity to meet and bump elbows with Jerry and crew that you're BETTER than those who have not.

I'll just bow out of the running now. I'd sure hate to cheapen your experience.

I think we should keep this a friendly chat,, nothing personal.

Consider this, and you tell me which should be considered a 'Hog'

A: A guy who owns over 50 pieces of INFI, both users and safe queens, and rarely posts on the forum. Has never or never will be at Blade.

Or

B: A guy who has 1 piece of INFI, is on the forums all the time, posted over 1000 times,, but will be at Bladeshow for the induction.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer,, just curious about what you all think?

So here is my story. I purchased my first Busse in California at the gun show in 1996. I didn't know anything about busse and didn't know busse. I ordered my first new Busses from Busse in 1998. I still did not realize that Busse was as tough as they turned out to be much later. I received those Busses sometime in early 1999. They were all INFI. Myself, Cliff, all the original Knife forums members moved over to the newly created Bladeforums in 1998 but we were posting on both forums for much longer. Because of work, and hardships I did not have the time to go to Atlanta for Blade. I did not go until 2006. I was inducted then. A full 8 years after I got my first Busse from Busse. All those previous years of me using Busse knives and posting on the forums, of me doing stuff with my SHBM's and not being a hog, Did I care? nope. Did I care that there was people who had gotten into Busses well after me and became hogs before me? nope. Do I feel for those who have not been inducted and want to be? nope, not at all. Do I care if Busse hands out internet inductions, nope, not at all. It is what it is.

The fact is I like everyone on this forum and enjoy being here. I think we have the best group of knife nuts who are all just good people. At the end of the day we are all here for the same reason. Many of you newer guys know way more than I do about the modern Busses and I like that.

But my question to all of you is, if we are all one big family and all having a good time here, what is it that being inducted over the internet will get you? Would it not make you feel better to work towards the goal of one day meeting Busse and the group. Of working towards that goal of being inducted at the show? Doesn't that sound like a fun goal? It may take you 8 years but one day it may happen and what a cool way for it to happen. I have always felt that when it is hard to earn something it makes it that much more meaningful.

Just my 2 cents on it.

Haha! :D This place is starting to remind me of a real farm... hogs bumping & grunting at the trough while piglets squeal displeasure (or cheer them on, I never can tell which) from the safer places.

The last online induction was in 2011 which was asked earlier. Since I've done both types, I don't care what happens, it's all good here.

I just want to point out it really is a lot more fun to do this over the trough tables for blades, than online for titles. ;)

You can get inducted by a Busse! Thanks Dan!

Take pics of scores you might get or miss in the trough stampede.

You can meet the crew.

There are more perks to a memorable life experience with people than just having hands full of stuff. Both is cool too, and you might even win a prize!

Hang out with Hogs, Rats & Dogs & make new friends. Hey Tom!

You might even get to hold a few sweet blades that others bring. Holding the Chuckette was way better than looking at a pic of it, thanks Chuck! ;) Or even just wear a blade you wouldn't normally edc like scout carry a ttkz.

Hold & see new models, or models you have always wanted to hold just to see if they feel right to you.

You can compare them to what you brought from home for piglet show & tell.

Score something unique like a stealth FBM LE!

But my question to all of you is, if we are all one big family and all having a good time here, what is it that being inducted over the internet will get you?

I showed a pic & got a pic with a title, nothing more. ;) Edit: Not true, there was a discount on HOG Muk's, sorry I forgot that part. :o
