Thank you, Duncan, for the knife as well as the fun giveaway. I had a great time with everyone's photos and the banter... like sitting at the bar with a great bunch of guys... except I wasn't drinking... and of course I got to see some cool knives.

…still recovering from shock!

Congrats to medicevans and mqqn! The red soddie looks sweet and I have a copy of the book and it is EXCELLENT!

Thank you for the fun contest, Duncan (& Ash). This subforum is really one of the bright places on the internet, it's great to see the participation.

And of course congrats to the winners

Wow! Thank you so much! I have lots of knives, but that book looks really cool. I've never won any give-aways before, and this one was such a cool one too. I too felt like we were all sitting around shooting the breeze, which I think is what the Traditional forum is all about.

Thanks again for the contest, and thanks for the book. I'll send my address tomorrow when I get off work, and I'll comment about how awesome the whittler looks too, because I can't see any pictures on my phone for some reason. :)

I don,t know how I missed this thread and gaw but I did until now. Duncan congrats to you and Sue...I know you'll be very happy. Once again your thread has enriched all who visit this forum. I would not have entered because I won the Boker 492 shortly after recovering from cancer and heart problems over a year ago. I still treasure that knife and think kindly of you for giving it up. Its regularly in my pocket. Thanks for all...Herb

Herb matey....I am very glad to see you are still with us so strongly after such a battle, and thank you my friend.
Thank you everyone who participated, and the kind comments, and to Ash, thank you for sending the Soddy to mqqn

Congrats to the winners and thank you to Duncan and Ash! Man o man this is a fantastic forum, threads and giveaways like this just impress the heck out of me.

I was telling our Troop Committee Chairman (a bit of a knife nut) about this forum, the people, the knives and the giveaways and he couldn't believe it until I handed him my Schrade lockback that I won in Vince's giveaway. The look on his face was priceless when he said "you won this? On an internet forum?" Two thumbs up for the members of the Traditional Forum

Hi Ash -

The Sodbuster was waiting for me when I arrived home this evening!

I immediately whipped out my Vic Waiter, opened the carefully wrapped packaging and played with my beautiful new Bulldog Sodbuster - my first ever knife in that pattern!

Thank you Duncan for the great prize, and thanks Ash for the quick ship!!

Here are some pictures I took after I had played with the knife through dinner -

I notice that the scale material is almost the same color red as my well worn 12 year old Vic Waiter - just beautiful -

The knife is a very nice size - a mid-sized blade with a nicely sized handle - good for any reasonable work you might need -

The Sodbuster came with a nice box with a neat Bulldog logo that reminds me of my old pup Sarge (he was an AmStaff) -

A neat serrated pull, and a cool bulldog tang stamp on one side, and 2005 tang stamp on the other.

The blade actually has a very sexy distal taper to the grind - I bet it is a great slicer, and we'll find out soon enough!

Thanks again, Duncan - I will treasure my gift/prize for many years!

very best regards -

Guess what I just got.... :)

AAAALLLLL the way from NZ!

The 1984 Schrade Heritage 8041 Whittler arrived and it's b e a u t i f u l. Nicely ground blades. The main blade is highly polished and has a cool old timey "Everlastingly Sharp" etch. Excellent walk and talk on all three blades. The fit and finish is top notch. No gaps. It's a split backspring and the spacer has an amazingly thin taper. Gorgeous red smooth bone handles and a neat shield to boot. "Get in my pocket"!!! :)

This knife is gonna see a LOT of pocket time. Thank you again, Duncan! :)
