Do you mean around 120 kb? ... because when I take the properties from your pic above it shows as 720 pixels wide.

This could be just the ticket! ... because, on dialup here, I have always had to compress the images to these dimensions just to get them uploaded to PB.

I mean 120 pixels per inch so 720 pixels for a 6" wide photo which is obviously not a true 6" in this format but big enough. Try it - you'll like it

I still haven't figured out what all the fuss is about. I never have a problem seeing other people's images and never have anyone tell me they can't see mine. I'm using Windows 7 with Firefox & Ad Block Plus. I never get pop ups when I visit photobucket, just a nag screen for $9.99 subscription when I first open photobucket. I click the X and it goes away and doesn't come back unless I leave their site and come back. I always use the "Direct" link or "IMG" link.

Come back and tell us about it in a week or two.

Yes ... thanks ... I tried it several times over and successfully in the 2017 Gardens thread in Community subforum. I just uploaded the pics and replaced the ones PB had blighted with their ugly image. Beauty is that I already had compressed them to 800 pixels w and around 120 kb in order to get them out on dialup to PB. Now I am saved the copy and paste step which was a chore because of having to view recent uploads (so slow here) on PB in order to get the image codes one at a time.

Prior to reading your post, I had only been patient enough to post thumbnails by uploading on BF ... not waiting for the option to go full size to appear (again dialup slow )

Some people keep saying "well it's not happening to me, so...". Just wait. This is happening to lots of people on multiple forums and likely across the internet. One guy said he owns an RV website than now has 20,000 photos missing.

PB is apparently not doing it all the same day and it is progressive, so if this isn't you today then give it a week or so and then you'll see.

Member here, @thepechant was the first person I noticed and I didn't think much of it except for all of his photos were missing. Over the next week I saw multiple others but still didn't think it was a sweeping thing because "mine still worked", I just figured people were sick of PB which I could relate too. Then I go online and I'm missing photos everywhere on all forums. I thought, no big deal, I'll just pay the stupid $9.99 they've pestered me about....then I saw that now they want $399.00 for a year reoccurring just to post 3rd party.

I have over two years and hundreds of photos and reviews on guns, knives, show me your knife/gun threads that are now blank. Even if I go with another host, I still can go back and fix all of those threads.

posting directly to a forum via the toolbar is great, but not all forums allow that. Not to mention that many of us write a thread and include pictures that relate to the text and share it with friends on multiple forums, so a host is not only convenient but necessary.

Do you think that it is a tactic to throw out that $399 for ability for third party? That's very steep. Could they be looking for leverage with forums/blogs etc. by thwarting users, holding pictures ransom in this way? The cost just doesn't make sense to me if they hope to actually build paid subscriptions.

I don't know what other hosts are trying to charge for third party, but this $399 sure sets the antennae vibrating.

It's just that images hosted on Photobucket free accounts are turning ugly ... and it's hitting a lot of folks here and apparently on other forums. Great pic BTW.

If your account with PB is free, it could turn to ...

Only thing photobucket would get for charging to use it is nobody using it anymore.
I have been using imgur lately, and it works better all around.

That the point and I'm there too. Haven't figured out the alternative. Meanwhile we at least can include photos with our BF posts. Pretty convenient for me as I am posting off a lap top and not a phone. Of course PB is within their rights but I don't think they will survive this tactic. Remains to be seen.

It looks like with "free accounts" if you go over 2GB you're in trouble. My "free account" limit is 10GB because downloading the iPhone App gave me an extra 8GB.

"The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time."​

However, the only Plus account that allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd Party image hosting is the Plus 500 which gives you 500GB of storage for $399.99 a year! Perhaps the Plus 100 account with 102GB of storage and unlimited image linking for $99.99 a year is all one needs.

The problem is that you really have to think of the viability of PhotoBuckets as a business moving forward.

I haven't exceeded my limit and am not locked out, but 3rd party hosting is chopped off. The fact I cannot even use a text link really stinks - you can give other folks your logon, but that's about it.

They aren't going to get many takers for the amount of $ they're asking.

I'm not sure what you're talking about either lol, but that's a very nice picture. Natural tones on blade, clip, scales and hardware...I rarely achieve photos like this with my 4s; parts of my shots are usually out of focus.
