Then
DO NOT watch this movie bro...
W e l l . . . s i n c e y o u b r o u g h t i t u p . . .
That movie was filmed in my home county (85% of it anyway) and that was the FIRST time I found this almost PREHISTORIC need to carry a tomahawk / hatchet into battle...
I know that I'll probably never use one, but I always consider this a last ditch, absolute, SHTF type tool, when it doesn't matter WHAT you carry / use.
I went RIGHT OUT and bought a cheap one after that movie. I NEVER used it however, and gave it away a couple years ago...
You guys know that most "straights" and even some "knife guys" gag on their Pepsi when you bring up wanting a tomahawk, but here's my thoughts on this:
IT'S ALL RELATIVE!
While most "regular" folks think ANY knife person is strange for putting SO much emphasis on knives ("
You paid HOW much? Boy! They seen you a-coming! I could have bought an Old Timer at Wal-Mart for...")
We know better, and HEY-it's OUR money!
Not to step TOO HEAVILY on anyone's toes, but I've spent less on knives in MY ENTIRE LIFE than some of my aquaintances have spent on NASCAR tickets / clothing / anythingwith"NASCAR"stamped on it in ONE SEASON!
Anyway, I wish we didn't have to "defend" our love for hawks...

Like I said, it's all relative! But ESPECIALLY other knife and "survival" folks shouldn't be concerned...
ANYWAY...back to LOTM...
My agency worked security on the set (although I didn't get any of THAT action-I was with another department then) and some of our rescue squad divers worked as safety divers-required by the actor's contracts when they were in canoes or even beside the water, for HOURS, even between takes.
One diver said he sat and WATCHED Madeline Stowe's shoulders redden, redden, and finally BURN in the NC sun between takes over several days. He said it was SEVERAL YEARS before he got over the fantasy of rubbing aloe in slow circular motions on Ms. Stowe's shoulders!
If I can ever get Butch to knock me out a ThomasHatchet (silly Looney Tunes reference) I think I'm going to hike up to the old sets near Lake James and see if any are still visible (the wooden logs of the "fort" were still there for years but the trees have since hidden them) and if so, take some pics of the tomahawk on the old LOTM set...
