^ one looks bigger than the other due to the camera angle and optical illusion? I know that they're not exactly lined up, but still!
It's because that wasn't the orientation that the photo was originally taken in.

Here, does the photo make sense now?

Nope, not really. It's an optical illusion because he took the photo at something like 45 degree angle to the horizontal plane as opposed to completely vertical to the plane ;)

Yes, this is the reason one looks larger. I'm not great at taking photos, which is why I rarely post any. It's also strange BF made that one photo vertical. Its displayed horizontal on my desktop.

Thanks Adam! They sure are light and a pleasure to use. I couldn't resist, I kept going to 800 grit.:D

What did you do for those? They look great!

Thanks Mike! I just hand sanded them. Started with 80, 150, 400, 600, and finished with 800. Then rubbed them down with some mineral oil. I don't have a respirator, so I wore a medical face mask and did it outdoors.

Nice Gusbuster Gusbuster I took my sapphire set to 1000. Plenty grippy. I need another EDC so I will be motivated to finish the evergreen. I'm going to attempt to maintain the machined grooves while polishing off the shaggy roughness.

You're doing fine with the photos, hope you post more. Any thoughts on the difference between thinner/thicker scales between the two?

Should we run a third-party confirmation of how the EDC stands up to your typical cold drawn wire nail? Magnum Pro. Made in the USA. 8d common @ 0.135 and 16d short at 0.131...

You can do what you want, it's your knife and I will repair it, but be aware the EDC is not only the thinnest knife I make, it's also a plate martensite version of D3V rather than the lath structure we use on the rough use knives. It won't break, I guarantee it, but it will probably take damage into the primary grind. Go nuts...

edit to add: unless that's the D2 version. I wouldn't cut nails with that.

If it's the 4V version it actually might do fine, if you hold it straight during the cut. Or it might break in half. If it breaks in half I can't fix that, and it won't be covered...

Would be a great shame to actually break that little fella beyond the point that Nathan could no longer repair it.

What is the actual and historical purpose of using a knife to cut nails? Does it come from the phrase, "tougher than nails"?

I believe it was originally inspired by the lyrics of a song titled Cigaro, by System of a down.

Perhaps not, but when I was in Uni, playing competitive first person shooters and my team took second in the World Championships (we played away against a team from Australia so had zero chance of winning) my on screen name was! :D
