At the expense of sounding like a total fanboy (no shame even if so) the edgecut antique Micarta variation is a work of art. If you were lucky & astute enough to preorder one of these, IMHO you easily have a knife exceeding far more in value than what you got charged for.

I agree! However IMO whatever configuration you get from Nathan far exceeds what you paid;):thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Oh yes, very true and in fact I thought that I may have quite inadvertently omitted that about any handle scale on the NASK, after I wrote that which is not what I meant at all. That said, the price differential which Nathan charged ($10-$30) between the antique micarta and the other options from lowest to highest, is a gift IMHO. Those handles if they were not for the huge Qty which Nathan had shrewdly bought in the past, are easily worth many multiples of that price differential.

Oh my goodness gracious!!! Nathan/Jo & the CPK team, you have a friggin Monster hit on your hands and better think about getting ready for the HDFK preorder, round # 2:

Thank you for Christmas in early Fall :D

Which one is User and which one is Collector? Both are damn nice looking!

The first thing I'm gonna do with mine, is stab it into a stump and take pics of it...then featherstick something and maybe go bust up a cinder block with it! :D

You almost had a "Like" till I saw the cinder block plan :D

With both the polished antique and maroon linen scales in hand, do you notice much of a texture difference between the two materials?
I know the unbuffed is more grippy, but not sure how the two polished materials compare.
My preference is usually G10 so I'm having a hard time deciding between the maroon and canvas micartas. Maybe down the line G10 will be an option with these, I really want a set in that bluish forest green ;)

Kurpak if your Q was addressed at me, I have the maroon scales as loose scales so can't do a direct comparison unless I remove handles which I'm not motivated to do. That said, I do have G10 and maroon on my EDCs and G10 on my FK. The G10 is slick as compared to unbuffed micarta, but not much more as compared to the buffed micarta. Perhaps on par.

We beat the hell out of that knife for a durability demonstration video yesterday but there was a problem with the video quality so we're going to resharpen the knife and shoot it again. It did cut a 1/4" bolt without any problem. Demolished a cinder block to rubble too. I did take a still photo after the mayhem.

Oh well. No damage that won't sharpen out. I'll give it a tumble and freshen up the edge and we'll shoot video again next week. *shrug*

That's amazing. Well done Sir!:thumbsup:

Yes thank you! I guess I should have phrased my question as.. is there any appreciable texture difference between the buffed canvas micartas (black, od, natural) and the maroon material? I know the maroon is linen and has finer cotton fibers, just curious if there's a noticeable tactile difference once they are polished up. Maybe I'm splitting cotton hairs here and should just pick the color I like best :D
