Justin, do you remember when Nathan first showed an image of about 10 such blanks stacked one on top of another, and the top one had all that gorgeous heat treat coloring? This one is that first one he began to test. So it's like the very first prototype/iteration "in the beginning". While this one was the start, what is now the HDFK is the final and end result Most people don't examine it well enough to be able to tell the difference. While they look so much alike, they DO NOT FEEL alike. So many tiny tweaks, huh?

Here is a better image (middle), what it looked like when I pulled it out of the creek (LOL).

Let's call it a BMF HDFK "Beginner", lol, given all that transpired after.

As you know, Nathan doesn't allow ragged, test stuff to get out into the public. I think it was a great gesture, but it came with conditions. It being more or less a retrieval from the creek, it can't get loose, I can never sell/trade it and upon my death he gets to lease a jet full of beer and come pick it up, LOL.

But yes, it was a BMF when I got it.
