Went out looking for morels today. Didn't find any of those but found quite a few pheasant back including this sizeable specimen.

Wow, I have been to Lake Tahoe when I lived in San Jose. The first time I ever went sno skiing was at Lake Tahoe. Never been there during warmer weather though.

They're edible. You want to harvest them in the spring. Smaller ones are better by far. The more mature they get, they become very fibrous and tough to chew.Are these edible? That thing is huge!

Desolation Wilderness is a childhood favoriteYou've got to go during summer, it's great! Camped here as a kid, rode horses, hiked etc. I've also come here to do some downhill mountain biking in the summer.....a little too broken for that now though. I'll be back when we get some heavy snow to do some riding.
There's a lot that you can't get to during the winter. Only downside is the altitude. Find I'm sucking in more air! Great hiking though. It's good to be here without the crowds.
