These are both buffed, which is actually the standard finish. Unbuffed is by request.
The new one is how natural micarta looks when it's brand new, should darken up with time and use.

Okay. Excellent. I was unaware of that. I've seen sheen on so many scales. Machined and/or sanded micarta dosen't look like that. A buffed standard answers that.
