This one arrived dark. The burlap on my EDC3 is not so dark. I think oiling it will only darken it temporarily. They might darken with a lot of use like Jony’s AECM scales. I’m not sure if the burlap scales darken with age.

Most buffed ones come just like yours from CPK. The one which Gus owns is a very special BadMoFo edition (take a glance at the posted photo again) which was offered as a special Fun Friday sale at the very outset of the UFK (FK2) offerings back in the day. I dunno what Nathan had done to those scales but yup that is one of the darkest sets which I've seen coming directly from his workshop.

His almost look like antiqued stuff where the resin has oxidized/darkened!

I remember years ago when I was into leather-craft, people in the community would leave their natural/undyed leather goods on their dashboard to "bake" in the sun to darken the leather. I wonder if that would work with micarta...
 
^ to expound, I was actually having an offline discussion with Eric earlier on about what a great deal both the preproduction BC and the first phase of the MCs were at $505 - $525 (depended on the scales choice of whether micarta or TT) and $400 respectively sans any sheaths back then. That BC is a preproduction BC which I had scored for Grog and then Bryan bought from Grog, then changing out scales. I think that Grog also threw in a Grog sheath for Bryan being such a good boy :)

Anyway, those prices were before the across board increases in Feb 2018 IIRC. I think that Nathan was Mr. Deep Pockets back then :p
