Photos! Post your CPK photos here!

It's been a bit too nippy these past few days to spend any extended time romping around outside, but the sun finally came out today so I snapped a couple quick pics of the new RLC. Love the look of this westinghouse micarta.

Really cool patterns emerged in that antique micarta on the EDC.

Are you quite sure the handle material on the RLC is Westinghouse? I was under the impression that the Westinghouse was pretty much used up, though maybe I'm ill informed. I believe that RLC in the recent sale was the antique micarta that Nathan likes to edgecut, which was never determined to be Westinghouse.

Yeah, that's "old as dirt" micarta, which is a vintage antique material, but the lineage is unknown because it was salvaged material and not a plate of raw material with a manufacturer's name on it. Given it's apparent age (darkened over an inch deep), high hardness and complete fiber impregnation I think there is a good chance it was made by Westinghouse.

It looks like Westinghouse material:

Translucent (not opaque) dark brown with yellowed (not white) fiber. It mills, buffs and smells like known Westinghouse material. But to my knowledge there is really no way to know.

I guess I just assumed they were. Westinghouse or not, I think they're the bee's knees.

The "Westinghouse" brand name on old antique micarta seems to add a mystique - and there are those who seek it out specifically. I think somewhere, in one of the sales threads featuring the antique micarta handles, or in a comment in a forum thread, Nathan addressed this issue and said that the antique material could be Westinghouse, but because it wasn't marked as such, would be best described as old as dirt antique micarta.

Hey, I have some CPK product in both Westinghouse and the antique edgecut. For rarity and value, it's the Westinghouse (but not by that much). For looks, it is absolutely the edgecut antique micarta. That stuff is gorgeous, I love it's beauty. A stoner could spend hours looking at one of those edgecut handles, lol.

But when it comes to collectibility, there is definitely value in the RLC/antique micarta package. They are few and far between. So Westinghouse or antique micarta, you scored one that is more desirable. Fewer RLC's to begin with, and a handle combo that rocks = mo betta.

EDIT: I typed the above explanation after committing the cardinal sin of NOT reading what had been posted shortly before. I read every word of every thread - unless I don't. Duh.

Hey Gus, I am glad you like her. I know you are fond of Nathan's work, so much so you wouldn't give up some of your special ones in trade! You drive a hard bargain, but at the end of the day I am really happy this helps complete you never to be completed CPK collection. Use it in good health!!

Small maybe, but very sweet. With the exception of a chopper you seem to have all the main boxes checked.

I really wish I had known about Nathan's knives before the demise of the potato knife. That is the one "older" (relative term) pattern I have seen that I would really like to try and which would, in reality, get the most actual use with my current lifestyle.

Had a couple new family members arrive today [emoji4]
