Why do I have to be Mr. Pink?
Those vintage IP (International Paper) Micarta scales look good but I must admit the coloring is somewhat different than what I was expecting. It will be interesting to see if the material will age and darken with use and exposure to light over time... kind of like the way Osage Orange wood scales do?Thank youJo the Machinist for selling me some sets of fancy new hardware and these vintage crunchy corncob colored canvas(?) scales!
Nathan the Machinist I like the very edges along the black liner that still show the previous exposed color, that rich brown/red. Very cool material here! The new blue torx go great with the old ECAM too and is only further solidifying that this FK2 “Bad idea” is my favorite CPK.

I hear by dub thee Butterscotch (the new old micarta, that is).
Did you request your sample shown above on the Signature SDFK as buffed or unbuffed?
Can’t do it, we have already had a butterscotch micarta in the past and it is quite a bit different material. Now, it is doubtful the few butterscotch knives that are out there are going to turn up, but we probably shouldn’t aid in any confusion.I hear by dub thee Butterscotch (the new old micarta, that is).

If we have to have a name for it, how about VIP micarta for vintage International Paper?

Maximus needs to receive a fair hearing...(lend him our ears?) (However, I do think he doth protest too much.)
...and Michael, that is not like any butterscotch I've come across...unless it's fortified with tomato.
