Reminds me of my old Datsun...

Is that a 12A?

I know more about German plants but JDM is equally as badass and fascinating. 👍

My first build in my late teens, a '73 Super Beetle (eventually with a ported and cammed 1776 running Kadrons, tickling 100hp), had a strikingly similar spray. Good taste!

(Not my image above...)

Couldn't tell you much about it. I inherited it from a girlfriend in the late 70's and it was a good, reliable vehicle for a few years until it wasn't. I loved the manual transmission in it.

My third and most recent, DEK1 with ECAM has been hanging out with me while working around the house.

I’ve been using it for most everything, sharpening pencils, opening boxes, cutting stretch wrap on skids of concrete block. I had a receipt, that thin paper that curls really easy, it sliced right through from choil to tip without any snags. Sweet!

It’s been a pleasure to use!

Thank you @Jo the Machinist for selling me some sets of fancy new hardware and these vintage crunchy corncob colored canvas(?) scales! @Nathan the Machinist I like the very edges along the black liner that still show the previous exposed color, that rich brown/red. Very cool material here! The new blue torx go great with the old ECAM too and is only further solidifying that this FK2 “Bad idea” is my favorite CPK.

I believe that SDFK on the top is a photo of what you were looking for (wrt to the IP vintage micarta).

IIRC, the stickied CPK Encyclopedia thread has a photo of the various CPK scale options.

Okay, probably the wrong thread to post to. As I am still getting familiar with the blade forums....I could use some decision making help from all of you experts! I'm trying to decide what handles/ scales to go with and I can't 😫
If I end up acquiring an amazing SDFK to pair with my FK2 only Carothers ( yes, I know it's lonely) but well loved. I'm stuck between Ecam, Terotuf, something else? Any advice would be awesome! Thank you. Ps. Seeing all of these beautiful pictures doesn't make things easier lol

My opinion is that there is no bad choice...and the stock choices are excellent.

If you plan on the knife seeing hard use, I'd go with stock or Terotuf, personally. If you want a presentation piece, then it might be worth gussying it up more. (Burlap is nice too in looks and grip,)

You'll get better advice shortly.

I absolutely love ECAM but it’s no longer in production, I believe. The HDFK ECAM scales do fit the SDFK, but have a lanyard hole. CPK does have a new vintage SDFK scale available that is attractive and very light in color. The secondary market is definitely your friend, if you’re set on ECAM.

Now Terotuf, that’s a tough one. In my opinion, pics don’t do it justice. I have gray TT on my HDFK and OD Green on my DEK2. It’s very tough stuff and looks nice. I wouldn’t put it on a collectible high $ Satin CPK, but on a badass user SDFK, absolutely !

These are my opinions only and there are many more experienced members in the forum. Good luck with your hunt and enjoy! Remember though, “Pics or it didn’t happen.”👍🏼

It's going to be on a badass SDFK user, if I aquire one. I promise! The FK2 is my go to for everything, even my favorite kitchen knife.

It's going to be a user, and very well loved! I can't wait.

Terotuff is good, but even that can start developing a buff too it, which is slippery. I rub the local dirt on mine to break the sheen and expose more fibers to get some grip back. I'm curious if anyone has ebonite on a user?
