Photos! Post your CPK photos here!

That’s gross dude. I’ll tell you what. Send that to me and I’ll handle it. Let’s all be cool here.

Signature Series Super Duty Field Knife in double-black micarta and the Abdominal Ventilation Tool SDFK one-off variant with acid-washed, deep-dish hollow grind and double-red micarta, both with matching Pirtlemade sheaths.

Holy shyte, I finally found one photo of one of these elusive buggers! The original UF with the double edge dagger-grind. I knew that The Amazing Virginian had owned one which he sold on here which was subsequently snagged by Bob Betzner but I just could not find a picture of it due to the server upgrade and most Photobucket pics kicking the bucket! Anyway, voila... The almost holy grail of the pre CPK Carothers UFs with DE-DG:

You ask me what's the frigging difference? Well, these did not come in D3V, but only offered in the pre-delta 3V HT and also in Elmax. Also note that the grind lines, primary and secondary are different as compared to the later version named DEF. The one above is in Elmax with CF scales. This will probably make The Amazing Verginian cry but he doesn't come in here that often so I'll be cruel for your benefits. All that said, I think that the DEF is a more superior knife but these are just darn rare because Nathan probably only made a dozen of these with this in Elmax and CF being one of the rarest.

Enjoy 😍

I really like that double grind vs the newer style. I think the bottom bevel being larger looks better with the overall lines of the knife and the handle shape. Very sexy.

Thanks for posting this .... What's the total length, if you remember ? Is it just me, or is it shorter than the DEF[2] ?

I understand your sentiment and I largely agree with your opinion although I stick to my previous statement when I had said that IMO the DEF / DEF2 are functionally superior patterns. Some of us had lobbied Nathan hard to stick more closely to the original UF with DE-DG but as things go, he made a better argument at that time as to why the DEF pattern would be a better "fighter" not only in name but also in the spirit of how he defined and envisioned an improved fighter.

Fun fact: before Nathan reintroduced the UF pattern in D3V and AEBL, the older original UFs (in 3V and Elmax) just like the older Shivs even to this day, were changing hands in the secondary for 2-3 x as much, even during those leaner years when there were fewer of us around. Some owners started selling their rare UF/DE-DG in anticipation of the DEF when they had thought that the UF/DE-DG values had probably peaked! LOLz...

I think it's the photo that I had cropped because the original photo which I found showed 2 other CPKs. I will try to go back and find the specs in the original sales thread, now sans Nathan's original photos, but the specs are the original OG UF specs in terms of OAL, BL, etc...

ETA:

Specs:
CPM 3V, Uddeholm Elmax , tested 60 HRC, .165 at ricasso
Total length 10.8
Blade length 6.0"
Edge length 5.6
Weight 7.3-8.3 oz
Extra grippy 3D machined scales
Black oxide treated 18-8 stainless steel fasteners

Finally got a new sheath for my first baby so we plan to spend more time together going forward. I got it at a discount from Azwelke being that it was set up for left. But as kydex big deal, small rivet face and logo on the opposite side,,still looks and works great for me thanks Al!

Thank you, B Burke ! Interesting shot.

I understand that one of these in circulation used to be Nathan's personal EDC for a while. There is a sales thread somewhere.

I believe that was actually a Shiv which (I think) is now owned by Gus. I could also be wrong, my memory isn't what it used to be :(

ETA: yeppers, Roland is right and as usual I was wrong, but right with guessing that it now belongs to Gus:
