Photos! Post your CPK photos here!

I’m loving my new DEF 2. She’s a beauty with bad intentions. Feels very light in the hand, balanced perfect (of course) and carries smaller than it is, especially in my Pirtle made and IWB at my kidney position.

I don't believe I have ever seen this model before, hard to keep track but that one is a beaut!

The acronyms and some of the jargons can become overwhelming and confusing, hence why the first post in the sticky'ed (made up word) CPK Encyclopedia is recommended reading, remembering and learning reference material for for both newer and longer term CPK'ers (another made up jargon). The pattern which you are referring to is listed under "Double Edge Fighter" which AR-Trvlr AR-Trvlr who went to great lengths to compile the reference material can perhaps add the DEF acronym. Further, just like the original UF and the subsequent UF2, there are also an original DEF and the subsequent DEF2. Lastly, there was also another variant known as the "*Dagger-Grind Utility Fighter" based on the OG-UF which has been as elusive as hens' teeth for some of us oldies. Perhaps the aforementioned good gentleman (Mr. AR-Trvlr) can also add that one under the Unique Knives on the bottom of that list.

* I just dug this up from an older sales thread all the way back in 2014. I think that Nathan made some of these variants back in '14/15. Sadly most of the older photos are now gone because of the server transition which this Site went through back in 2019/2020? and also the original photo hosting site which Nathan was using. I think that B Burke (ETA: maybe also Gusbuster Gusbuster ?) owns one of these rare pieces if he wishes to post a photo or two. I will try to see if I can find one of those pics using Google photo caches!

From Nathan on 12/12/2014: The clip has been thinned into a sharp double edge dagger grind. This is a seriously nasty meat eater. It weighs 10.4 oz. The scales are African Blackwood from an old stash of excellent dark stock. Black SpecOps sheath. Not legal in some areas.

Amazing, thank you!

What’s y’all’s favorite way of collecting fat wood? I personally enjoy battoning and beating a behemoth tip down.

Edge damage was from a previous outing when cutting down a tree. Either I “found” a thick nail or there was a rock embedded into the bark. Still unsure

Dang! It is really annoying that most of Nathan's really cool knives pics pre CPK (~ Summer of '16) seem to have disappeared w/o much trace. I really had to dig deep but instead of finding any photos of the OG-UF with double edge dagger grind, I found a photo of these OG double luv-muffins!

Holy shyte, I finally found one photo of one of these elusive buggers! The original UF with the double edge dagger-grind. I knew that The Amazing Virginian had owned one which he sold on here which was subsequently snagged by Bob Betzner but I just could not find a picture of it due to the server upgrade and most Photobucket pics kicking the bucket! Anyway, voila... The almost holy grail of the pre CPK Carothers UFs with DE-DG:

You ask me what's the frigging difference? Well, these did not come in D3V, but only offered in the pre-delta 3V HT and also in Elmax. Also note that the grind lines, primary and secondary are different as compared to the later version named DEF. The one above is in Elmax with CF scales. This will probably make The Amazing Verginian cry but he doesn't come in here that often so I'll be cruel for your benefits. All that said, I think that the DEF is a more superior knife but these are just darn rare because Nathan probably only made a dozen of these with this in Elmax and CF being one of the rarest.

Enjoy 😍

Looks like you found every last damn rock/nail in the joint. That's pretty substantial damage, is that the infamous delta 3v? In any case, I'm always chuffed to see these beautiful knives get the panel beating they deserve. Good on ya for putting it to the test!

My guess would be rocks btw.

This is the same Behemoth chopper that sent me to the ER. I believe Cap’n Smudge Cap’n Smudge was right when he said I should not have caught it, and that it wouldn't get damaged from the fall lol.
I beat on my user CPKs pretty hard. This one taking the most abuse out of all of them. And that edge damage is the "most" I've been able to muster out of any CPK while putting it through actual work. Without beating them directly onto a rock...
I think it was rocks myself even though I did find a rusty nail cut in half in the tree later on. But yes, it is Delta 3V. And very little edge damage for that reason all things considered;)
