Adam: I think those scales which HardKnock calls Blue Denim on his FK were being offered by CPK as such circa 2015 (IIRC).

Justin: Exquisite handles by Nathan on that FK.

That's encouraging if accurate because after all these creatures have a lineage which goes back further than the extinct dinosaurs!. Yes, I did note that reported study was from 2010.
The lineage is crazy to think about. Other more recent studies contradict that one. That said, bad science is always out there. I would actually need to look at how the study was done to believe either side as the ocean is so vast and unexplored I would think counting sharks to be very difficult. I wish I had the time to dig deeper as it sounds very interesting.

Very envious of you guys with the edge-cut examples!!!!

Hard Knocks Hard Knocks : Who did the denim scales  ? And congrats on your daughter placing so high :)

Thank you sir! :)

Casino is right, the denim scales were offered by Nathan, and I was able to grab them in a sale here on the forum. I used to be fast enough to do that, lol. I'm not sure how many offerings of that kind that Nathan has done. I'm pretty pleased with these. I've kept them to lighter duty, but sure haven't had any problems. They are a very aesthetically pleasing scale, at least to my eye.

Someone out there has a set in terotuf too. Here's a picture from one of Nathan's sales threads with terotuf on top and denim below.

Neat to see that one age!

I'm excited to watch it grow up. :D

It's hard for me to notice the changes as I carry it frequently enough that they don't seem drastic. I should snap a pic every month or so from the same angle/with the same lighting and chronicle how it changes over time.

Tommy, here are some shots of what looks like the same material, which is edgecut antique micarta, but with Justin's background material, I think he is able to bring out the pattern better than these:
