I contacted this member as soon as the knives I bought from him arrived. The "Red"( black scales painted red:rolleyes:) grips blade was supposed to have a nice acid etch on it, the thing is just beat to death. Looks grinded on, polished, and the black sooty acid parts just wipes off dry or even more with moisture. From the two pics he has in his thread looked modded but had no idea was this bad.

Also on the milled aluminum?(I'm guessing, he doesn't know either) scaled grip. Knife is pretty descent gotta say. Blade was new, everything feels solid, smooth. Negatives---Blade play even atfer applied locktite yesterday (pivot I think just doesn't sit right) AND (and this is what really threw me. It has some type type of marker or cheap paint rubbed outside and inside of the scales. I asked Keegan what this stuff was . He told me he didn't know cause got them that way from a seller on ebay. I very much had my doubts cause having cheap marker/paint rub off on your customers hands I doubt you would be in business very long. Oh he also told me it was an anodization which it clearly is not because I took a qtip with water and rubbed inside the scales where most of the blue stuff is and it rubs off.

I contacted him same day I got the knives and told him "hey man want to return these knives. They are severly not as described and I just don't want them". He told me too call him ( didn't want to do that because he has a bad reputation on other knife sites as being a scammer and afraid would do something with the phone number). I told him I will even pay for the return shipping and he could take money out for the cost for him shipping. Refused, refused, refused. Kept trying to tell me it's my fault. Told me I should have asked more questions before I bought them. Said all of his other customers were happy and I was just a bad egg out of the bunch. News flash Keegan, most of your other customers bought new knives and you didn't have to go into details on the blades they bought explained in detail since they weren't modded or painted. It's the sellers responsiblity to explain the condition of knife for sale. I told him I have bought many knives and the only time I have had to send something back is when I bought a knife that the scales had been dipped in pen ink and I could not tell that from the pics.
(wasn't from BF). Anyways he just kept saying you can't return the knives. I was screwed because I paid him with gift and am hesitent to send the knives back to him anyways cause honestly don't trust him for his rep and way he was handling this.

Then he says well you can return the "REd" grip but not the other.

So yesterday I just said screw it I'll accept them and maybe can fix them up and told Keegan that.

This morning. I looked at this "Red" grip and realize there are black scratches? Looked more closely and the red is just painted on! Globs of paint inside the liners and the inside in some parts is shading black. See when I first got it I thought the small specs of black on scales was from something black that just got rubbed on it so never gave it a second thought until the red paint just scraped off this morning.
Was happy to get a "RED Grip" cause never seen one that I can think of except for the Grip trainers.

So the red paint is the last straw. I'm a very frustrated unhappy buyer here. Keegan gave you every chance to correct yourself and you still didn't tell me all the /truth/facts about these knives. I want to return them too you and have you pay for the return shipping with sig conformation since honestly don't trust you. I want you to tell why you didn't explain all this in the sales thread or to me after I contacted you.

Sorry Keegan but done talking to you though email. I want to send these back and for you to explain yourself.

Here's descripitive pics of the knives and link to sales thread.

Black showing on the "Red" grip this morning and horrible blade.

I can show proof later that this blue marker/paint ( was told anodized:rolleyes:) stuff just wipes right off later if need be. No descrpition of this stuff being on the scales in the listing either.

Here's a picture of the blue stuff rubbing right off. It can't be anodized.

That's hilariously bad. I wouldn't even give these knives away, much less sell them.

Refund is in order.

This looks awful.

What I don't understand is why you would do business with him when you knew this guy had a bad reputation and known as a scammer?

There are two sides to every story though this doesn't look too good

My thoughts exactly. I could see selling the milled grip after getting this blue crap off of it and getting pivot fixed but would never sell it as is and the red painted very modded bladed grip is beyond bad and I can't believe he tried to sell this on a knife site where we expect more of our fellow knifenuts. Absolutley none of these issues where told/ described to me.

I hope he has something to say today cause want to hear it and send this back on Monday. Can show all of our conversations though email also. Doesn't have very many people that like him on JD either. Look his name up.

I tried to just send them back but he would not let me. He still might not. I'm not paying for the shipping cost now either.

Have you PM'd him to let him know about this thread?

The day I got the knives is the same day I seen an incredibly negative thread about him on JD. I told him immediately I wanted to send them back and it would be on my dime he said no,no,no. I paid him with gift cause you can usually trust people here. The only reason he is putting up a fight is cause I paid with gift and can't start a claim. Not good to deal with at all. He just kept lying and lying and lying and says it's your fault. I tried with him. He gave me no choice but to start this thread. This could have been solved simply.

WTF is going on .. Those are absolute pieces of crap. Sometimes we just have to say these knives just cant be sold toss them in the draw and call it a wrap. This is one of those times . Hope this works out for you. Sometimes you get beat . This may also be one of those times. Good luck

I'd wager no. But here are random thoughts to ponder.

As far as the condition of the items, we need to see pictures that were used in the ad. If there were no pictures then why buy something sight unseen anyway? You're only asking for trouble in that case.

Using alleged (mis)representations of occurrences that happened elsewhere to bolster an entire different scenario is weak.

If you buy something, and you start to "tinker" with it in an effort to "repair or correct", you just dissolved your own ability to return it, unless of course the seller is Wal-Mart. This has been the case for a while and seems to be what most people here and elsewhere agree is the norm.

Unfortunately, fewer and fewer people learn from the mistakes of others much less their own. When you have transactions that apparently go wrong back to back, that says a lot about some things.

I would ask Allen P about those scales, they look like his standard honeycomb pattern. They must have been blue at some point, I doubt someone would sit with a "Baby Blue" sharpie for an hour and try to specifically highlight the recessed portions.

Yup. sent him an email. Saying more or less this" Hey today the "red grip" got scratched and realized the red is actually just painted on, and sent a link. I don't blame him for not responding soon since VD day but want to hear something by Monday. There is just too many things wrong with these knives that I SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP THEM. Would any of you not send back knives in this condition?

I can confirm all of this BTW since the first day the knives arrived at my door. Conversations and everything. Would any of you keep these knives in the condition they are in and as described in the sellers thread(which is absolutley not described at all!)? I expect the seller to explan the condition of the blades in his thread. He di not if in the slightlist. When I buy something here I expect to not to be garbage or at least for it to BE DESCRIBED AS IS which these clearly weren't.

Here's the sellers thread again for those who missed it. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1257637-Microtechs-Benchmades-QTRMSTR-Spyderco-ZT-Brous

I will post the mine and the sellers conversations here if something doesn't get resolved by Monday. He is 100% in the wrong here.

The pictures he posted look consistent with the pictures you posted. I don't know if Benchmade colors the handles of their minigrips, I think I read sometime ago that they do on the sand colored ones, they are actually black underneath. If that is true, then that kind of throws that one out the window.

never ever gift the money.how much did you pay for these.I dont think bm paints kraton plastic cause it doesnt hold the paint well sgould be died before baking .I no a idiot or two who think they can fix aanything or make it look cool with a Sharpe.so that is totally believable

You breached paypals conditions of use. You cannot pay with gift for transaction. So you messed up.

Its messed up for him to sell knives like this. But you dug your own grave by paying gift. Youve done enough deals that you should know better, hopefully he refunds you because thats the correct thing to do.

But if you get screwed, sorry to say its your fault.

Dam bro I feel for you. Sorry I thought you read he was a scammer and still chose to do business with him.

I really hope you get your money back, these knives look horrible.

The post said "used knife" and that sucker certainly is used. Did you ask for a better description of this knife prior to buying it?

Looks just like a $75 well used and poorly modded benchmade
