Pic thread- knives that were ridden hard and put away wet!

I take pictures of knives when they're new. Unfortunately, I cannot make the knives age in these archived photos.

In general, I don't post pictures much.

Most stories are mundane, and don't show much immediate wear because when I stab into solid salt and dull my blade out, I don't take a picture, I wash the blade and resharpen it, I didn't take pictures after removing an oil filter or cutting sod or scraping up tiles and residue or any other number of things because after that it looks ugly, needs a bath and a sharpening.... kinda like posting a picture of your bathroom after you've taken a dump.

I posted a comment similar to the OP's idea in another thread some time back. I dont understand how so many knives on the exchange are LNIB or NIB "only used to cut paper twice, flipped 5 times, and fondled 6 times". especially alot of the knives that have titanium handles. Just from regular carrying(not abusing) the handles of my sebenza are pretty scratched up.

Just because a knife looks good in a picture doesn't mean it isn't being used, or hasn't been used hard.

Unless a knife has a coating that is getting worn off, how much evidence of "hard use" would you need? Knives are generally made of pretty durable materials, so as long as they aren't being beaten to hell, it's certainly possible for them to look almost new even after many years of use.

Not everyone breaks their blades using them as prybars or screwdrivers. Not everyone takes out big chips from their edges cutting through steel wire and other metal items. Not everyone tosses their knives into a toolbox to get all banged up. And not everyone needs to grind off large amounts of steel from their blades in order to keep them sharp. It really doesn't take much effort at all to keep a daily work-knife looking good. A little edge maintenance, washing the dirt off, cleaning off paint, drywall, glue, etc, and a knife can easily regain a like-new appearance.

Haven't carried this in over ten years, and I carried it less than ten years though I carried clipped in my BDU pocket and used it daily. Rode hard. Moderns just don't age well.

Many people take pics of their knives when they are new, and then proceed to use them. They don't always go and take more pics when someone posts one the of the endless "Show me your xxxxxxx brand knife." The pic they post may be two years old.
bingo.

while I do beat the snot out of my knives when afield, they get lots of TLC when they get back home. They cost a lot of money, and I take care of them.
