Pictures of what you consider to be the ideal modern Gentleman's Folder

These two and also COUNTLESS slipjoints are what I consider most fitting for a Gentelman's Folder.

Hi Mathew J -

Most recently, I have thought of my Phillip Dobson modified CQC-7 as about the ultimate modern gentleman's folding knife. The knife sports handle scales in brown European oak with black micarta bolsters, and a wonderful custom re-ground and polished blade.

That's a big blade for gent's carry, don't you think? Anyway, I thought you were going to keep that knife as your "beater". :D

If we're talking modern folders I would have to say the Mnandi. If were talking traditionals it's too many to list.

I wouldn't forget about the Kershaw Leek for the role. It has a very similar profile the original case and so on that were shown and comes in a reasonable steel and a whole host of different colour combinations and at least 2 or 3 different steel combinations.

Hi Phillip -

It could be a gentleman's hard use folder? :D

Everyone who sees this one just loves it.

I am using it - I promise!

I handeled the 480 (Benchmade) in a knife shop and loved it. It was a really cool knife. If I wasn't in the market for a Kulgera 930 (which is kind of like a giant gentleman's knife for it's appearance), I'd have gotten the 480. The nak lock is just cool. The only down side for me is no pocket clip. It comes with a clippable sheath though.

Mc Custa and Moki make very fine well-finished knives.

Consider too the Ken Onion Eros or Ripple, an ultra slim modern take on the Pen-Knife.

Either of these would do.

Or perhaps a bit of Desert Ironwood?

mqqn is right, Phil Dobson does some great work. This is an old Benchmade that had partial serrations that found new life with Red Amboyna.

Rockstead knives have always seemed Gentlemanly to me.

It may be a bit large, but I would say it is less than tactical.

I second this. I have a few leeks and they are amazing. Very sleek and smooth.

Probably not just a coincidence but the magazine cover under the knife is Batman: Arkam City. The game is made by Rocksteady.

I usually carry a Speedform II for dressier occasions,

But now this is also in the dressy occasion rotation:
