pigsticker challenge????

I'm much more likely to hunt hogs with my longbow but if I were to hunt them with a knife, it would be my BK9 for certain.

a Fallkniven S1 works just fine for me.

that said, a Fairbairn-Sykes is about as nifty a pig sticker as you can get.

Been hog hunting for about 15 years now, but never tried with Dogs or knife (rifle and archery only). Here's what I wear as a "side arm" during archery season. All have about 6.5-7" long blade. . .

The Buck 651 Pig Sticker is definately a nasty knife. It was made for the Austrailian market, and found its way over here. You can still pick them up, but they are a bit pricey...

Damn this website! Goodbye $75

I guess it'll match the Enfield.

From our state big game hunting digest, "Knives and spears are not legal methods of take for wild pigs in California." wimps. I'm disgusted. Don't they have any faith in their god Darwin!?

Would anyone in a knife hunting state or country care to comment on the efficacy of this method? I'm a gun hunter, myself, and this is all new to me.

i will comment erasmus,i believe that done right knife hunting can deliver a faster, cleaner kill, its just you are up close an alittle more intimate with your prey then other methods,i also hunt with guns an bow an had my fair share of bad shots, tracking a animal for miles only to lose them,i also seen animals run 50 yards to a miles on a nice clean shot ,,it happens out there, but with my dogs an knife ,pigs are done within a minute when i get there,as you can see in the pic i stab a straight shot to the heart, its fast,i think people are against the use of dogs, they do get hurt or even die out there,an alot of people cant fathom that...the animal groups were tring to ban dog hunting they lost so now they are going after the knife hunting law...you cant use a knife then no sense take the dogs??the fight continues

Thanks for the info, Kalama. Even if I never get to use it on a pig, it's there just the same.

Don't give up the fight to protect your local method of hunting. The militant, do gooder vegetarians are always up to something (bad), and are never satisfied if you compromise with them.

No pics here but how does one go about hog hunting with a knife? do they not charge or run? Is it done at night?

You use dogs. They harass the hog until it's winded and the dogs get a good grip, then you run in and stab it with your steely knife!
