PIZZA toppings?

Our usual is chicken, bacon, and mushroom.

The wife and I ate some Jets pizza for National Pizza Day. The local Jets by us is pretty good. They always run a large, deep dish, 3 topping for $14.99. There is a Papa Johns a little further away but we don't get out that way much.

We try not to eat too much pizza by the way. When we do get the taste for it, Jets is good enough to satisfy us.

PS. Pineapple is acceptable on a pizza. If my niece is with us, we get the chicken, ham, and pineapple pizza.
If your Jets is the same as My Jets then try the Bbq chicken deep dish.

I think it will be very interesting to try pizza with Canadian take on toppings and dough!!!
Canadian pizza, eh? Probably a very large, sparsely-populated, pie, shaped like a maple leaf, cut into two pieces, with one piece topped with french fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy, and the other topped with maple bacon, on a bannock crust, politely giving all the toppings plenty of personal space.

Canadian usually means pepperoni, bacon and mushroom, or at least that's what I remember from pizza hut when I was a boy

Really? Not Buddy's? 🙁

😁 Love me some Buddy's Detroit style.

I'm not sure how far outside Hockeytown you are but, my favorite was a little hole in the wall in Livonia on Joy Rd. called Amico's. I'd drive a half hour out of my way and pass a dozen pizza places to pick one up.

If you're south, Sammy's Pizza in Brownstown near the Kroger on Gibraltar Rd/I-75 is really good too.

I ordered toppers to celebrate National Pizza Day. I tried Papa John's first (the small shops are closed a this time of night early in the week, and never tried Papa John's), and "Gabby" answered. I said "Gabby did you know today is National Pizza Day in the USA?" Long awkward pause... "That's great. ... Can I help you with something?" "Actually Gabby I just changed my mind." Topper's customer service actually knew about it and told me about the specials just for this day. It should be here shortly.

Yep, I've eaten at the Livonia Buddys a few times over the years. It is good. It is about a 20 minute drive for me.

Jets satisfies our monthly craving for pizza. Plus, it is less than a mile away from me. Most times, I grab it on the way home from work, I drive right past it.

Amicos is new to me. I will check them out.

Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc...... chain places do not make pizza.
They make PLS. Pizza Like Substance.
In the ad agency I worked in we had, at different times, the Pizza Hut & Domino's accounts.
We weren't allowed to bring in any other pizza.
I'd smuggle in slices in a plain brown bag :O

In between those accounts we'd get pies from Two Boots in Manhattan.
We called our favorite pie the George Bush Pizza.
They'd make us a garlic pizza that you could smell in the elevator 3 hours later.

George Bush?
"You're either with us, or you're against us!"

Pizza is such a wonderful simple thing that it just doesn't need all the crazy toppings. That is if the foundation is solid.
Bad pizza is bad pizza no matter what you put on it LOL.

We'd never judge a place by a slice, always a pie. And local places by their Sicilian pies.

If you're ever in Manhattan, go to Angelos, at the Ed Sullivan Theater. They don't do slices. Brick oven goodness. Get the pie I mentioned above. You will see what I mean and will be happy.

This. When i was in my 20s, we used to test Pizzerias by how good their Pizza Margherita was. It’s all it takes.

These days, I order what they usually call the “meat-lover’s” or “carnivore’s” pizza, every Pizzeria has one. Add some Jalapenos and a couple of Grappas — PERFECT.

And, BTW, I’m German, so love of beer is in my genes :) except with Pizza.

We could get along. My friend worked in a family owned pizza place and always made me a large carnivore with garlic and jalapeno. Only charged me $10 for a huge pizza that I could never finish more than half the first day.
I went to Italy in 2011 and we had a shot of grappa after lunch every day.

I have eaten local pizza in NYC, in Milano, in Firenze, in Chicago, in New Haven (New Haven pizza is what NYC pizza snobs could only wish their pizza was). All good stuff. There used to be a place in SoFla that had the best Sicilian ever! I have had very little pizza that I hated. Even the worst chains . . . Pizza Hut and Little Caesar's, IMO . . . if I'm hungry I'll eat a slice or two and enjoy. Hell, even Costco pizza tastes good when I'm hungry. And I have a small pizza oven and make my own when I have the time and energy - better than some, not as good as others.

As for toppings . . . as someone noted a perfect slice really needs no toppings at all. Perfectly cooked crust, fresh sauce and cheese . . . can't "top" that. But almost anything is fine except anchovies, olives or bland hamburger. Fresh clams . . . oh, mama mia! 😋

I'm not reading 5 pages about pizza toppings but 100% Green Olives are a valid pizza topping in fact an authentic Italian pizza joint that I used to go to had them as a common pizza topping. Pineapple is an odd topping but I believe most people knocking it haven't tried it or just want to enjoy the pineapple on pizza is the work of Satan band wagon. I would also say Green Olives > Black Olives on pizza and it is mostly an American thing from what I have noticed to put black olives on instead of green olives. I love a good BBQ pizza because almost all Pizza is valid and good for someone but never put any mushroom on my pizza. One of my favorite pizzas has been an Asian pizza I had with chicken and some sweet and spicy sauce as the base I got it from Papa Murphy's and it was really good.

One of my go to pizzas is Pepperoni and Onion

I'm garnering a fair bit of heat for my taste in pizza toppings.

I dont care what anyone says.

GREEN OLIVES BELONG ON PIZZA.

My favorite pizza is:
GREEN OLIVE AND PINEAPPLE
sometimes with chicken and bbq sauce sometimes with ham.

Once I had a Bbq Green olive pizza with bacon cheddar pickles and beef that was awesome.

Well here's my point. Apparently I need help in deciding appropriate pizza ingredients. So, let's use this space to discuss the right and wrong ways to make pizza.

HELP ME FEEL NORMAL PLEASE.

This needs to be in a different part of the forum so I can tell you how I really feel about this. 🤣 😛

🤣

but 100% Green Olives are a valid pizza topping

I agree. I just don't like them.

Pineapple is an odd topping but I believe most people knocking it haven't tried it or just want to enjoy the pineapple on pizza is the work of Satan band wagon.

I for one have tried pineapple on pizza a number of times. It is just too sweet a topping to make sense for my tastes, and also too juicy and squishy a texture for pizza, at least in the sizes it has tended to be cut when I tried it.

Tried a pork belly and potato pizza today at an Italian restaurant that my GF and I frequent. It was kinda weird. Don't know what came over me. Guess it was the "pork belly." It was "ok" but not what I was expecting.

The GF & I finished 2/3rds of it but we normally don't leave a cumb on the platter.

This is the description from the menu: Tuscan Pork belly, Shallott, Provolette, Rosemary Parsley, Potato, Parmesan Crust.

Sounded good until I saw it. Like I said, weird. LOL! ;)

That'll teach me to stick w/what I know and like -- a plain old MEAT LOVERS PIZZA!!! ;)

I’ve had pork belly tacos before. Never again. The consistency is just too weird and flubbery
