Please make a cf calypso jr or the paramilitary in ZDP-189

I must confess Carlos is accurate.

There are, in the works, a Burgundy FRN Caly jr in ZDP-189 and a midnight blue FRN Delica in ZDP-189. This permits a more cost effective offering which gives more ELUs an opportunity to try this extra-ordinary Hitachi steel.

Current plans are for one run each of 1200 pcs. Due in the early summer.

Performance in our testing put ZDP in the same range of edge retention as S90V.

I like those choices in color. Don't know about the Delica, but I'll get at least 1/600th of those Calypso Jrs:D

What hardness is the ZDP-189, and how does it compare to 420V in toughness? Thanks.

I don't think I could have asked for cooler colors. I can't wait, I predict a burgundy calypso jr becoming a solid EDC for me.

I haven't used this steel (not that I have know of yet) but they use this steel on Bike parts(ie: Headsets and Bottom Brackets). It does hold up on the latter very well.

I thought I remebered seeing a Burgandy Caly Jr proto in someones picture. I thought it looked great. It'll be interesing to try a new steel too. sal and crew, keep up the innovations.

I like blue. I don't like burgundy much. But I like Calypso Jr's, so I'm in. I sure would prefer the blue on the Calypso Jr.

Agreed. Why not make them both blue?

Oh, thank you Sal! I have no problem with either of these colors. I can't wait to use this new steel. What are edge plans for production run? About How much more will ZDP-189 cost per knife over VG-10?

IIRC from the article, the hardness is around 67 on the Rockwell C scale, I don't know about toughness. All I remember reading is that it was tougher than anyone thought a steel hardened to 67 ought to be, no chipping, etc.

Should be interesting. Forget steeling it, my steels are 62 - 63.
