I'm looking for a small fixed blade knife. I'm new to the knife world so really don't know where to start. Fixed blade 3-4 inch blade. I like the Benchmade Nim Cub II, but would like some other suggestions to consider.

This would be something to be carried daily. I prefer a sheath that either locks it in positively such as Kydex or other quick release but positive retention holster.

Thanks all.

I recommend you give the CRKT Minimalist a look. I was surprised by how useful and ergonomic it was in such a minimal package.

A very traditional small fixed blade can be a puukko. The middle one fits in my jeans pocket in sheath. I could still shorten the handle a bit to make it even shorter and it still feels good in my hand.

+1 on the Roselli Carpenter's knife (middle one). A true sleeper hit amongst those of us who have carried and used one.

I carry a Bark River Knives Northstar EDC and love it. I wear an XL glove size and I can still use it comfortably. It's nice and slim and rides easy on the belt in the sheath it came in with very good retention. It's a full-height convexed CPM-3V blade and very tough. BR doesn't run it too hard though so it's still easy to sharpen. I love it and carry it every day to work.

If you want something with more belly than the NS EDC, the Woodland Special is a great little knife. I wasn't crazy about the less ergonomic handle design, but it works for most folks. The Mini-Canadian is also really good. I've got one on the way now.

Blind horse knives has a ton of options for you. If they only offer a leather sheath with the knife you like just give then a call and they will make a kydex one for you.

I have a BR Gunny that I really like. The handles fit my hand like a glove. It has a 3 1/2" blade.

Since you are not specifying a traditional knife, and some others have crept in already, I'll move this to General Knife Discussion.

Condor Tool and Knife has many offerings in that size.
Take a look at the Bushbuddy(3 3/16 inches). It is a neck knife
that comes with a kydex sheath.

You might also consider the mini Bushlore(3 inches) or the
4 inch bushcraft basic, though both the Bushlore and bushcraft
come with leather sheaths that are tight, but only hold by pressure.

Boker Tom Krein Pocket Bowie is a good clip point small[3 finger] economical user.--KV
