Gene,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, bro. Hope the missing stuff turns up, and they nail the a**hole who did it.

thanks for the kind words Bro..but could you take that picture of my Ex-girlfriend outta your avatar...I still miss her.

I'll do it, for you, Gene. But before I do, can I ask how she lost her eye? Or do I really not want to know?

It really is true..If you put that green tracking slip and the blue or black insurance slip on the box..I truly believe that the package has a good chance of arriving. Gene

... but rarely does.

No way I can tell from the information here alone, but the contents may have been taken by someone in the delivering post office. This is a case where the Postal Inspectors should be looking for the thief when a package is found to be rifled in house. It shouldn't be hard to find who was on the route the day it came in, and when he knew the contents were missing.

We would have called the Inspectors in on it right away, and the local office may have, but isn't saying anything until they have some kind of results. I suggest going to the USPS website and contacting the Postal Inspectors directly. www.usps.com
Not to sound like someone who had a chip on his shoulder, but Postal Inspectors aren't shit.:grumpy:. I "lost" a package, I contacted my local Post Office, as well as the Postal Inspector for my area, and NOTHING was investigated...The cocksucker wouldn't even return my (4 or 5) phone calls to him. I still don't have MY package, and it was sent to me back in December of '07..

Sucks to hear this bro. This is the reason I unsure EVERYTHING I ship through the PO. No matter if it's $5 or $500.

I don't trust the PO one bit. Reason being is I've been told completely different things by different postal workers. One person told me that anything that gets shipped priority AUTOMATICALLY gets $100 insurance. After shipping like this for a few months, I inquired about this at another location and they told me that was incorrect. When I told them that I was told this at the location I usually frequent, they just laughed and said, "They're always giving people wrong information." I couldn't believe my ears. I asked, "Why don't you guys go up there and tell them?" They had no response. The place (USPS) is a croc. The only reason it's successful is because it's cheap and there really isn't another option. Yeah, you could ship through FedEx, USP, or DHL, but you're still using there business in every other aspect of your shipping life. They're never going to get better and that's that.

No, you don't know how the Postal Service works. In my orientation the first week I worked there, we were constantly reminded of the Inspectors' galleries overhead, where they could be watching and filming anyone on the work floor stealing.

As a supervisor and manager, I got coopted to work with Inspectors following up on theft and preparing termination and prosecution for the thieves. There is no deterrent for people stupid enough to waste a potentially valuable career and pension for a few bucks worth of loot. But catch them? Yes, as frequently as necessary.

Yeah your right I do not know about the USPS service, but overall I believe that if some people are presented with an opportunity they will seize it. Not all or many, but some individuals. Each site is different, but the ones where I was employed theft was rampant due to the fact that management did not want to spend the money to upgrade the facilities.

So I will take back that there is a high possibility of theft In the postal service. I will say though that each site is different and there are many variables which are needed to be understood in order to figure out why theft occurs. (rules, regulations, security and so on)

take care
aj

I fully realize people say over and over buy shipping insurance, but I have a problem with that scenario as well.

I do not mind buying shipping insurance, but I hate to place the value on top of the box. In my mind it would be more likely to get stolen if it had a high value.

If I place a sebenza and have on the box $500 I think there is a bigger chance of it getting stolen than If I had $50 on the box. Plus the items with higher value take longer to arrive than the ones with a low value, due to customs.

Shipping services should just in the future try to employ RFID chips or something in order to cut down on theft.

The value isn't shown on the outside of the box though, so the handler shouldn't know how much the box is worth.

All my shipments they have been. The value of the item is the insurance value if an individual buys insurance.

I'm in Canada so anything going from here to the US or coming here to Canada has the value on the box. (This is my biggest problem when ordering)

Buy insurance I'm covered, but more likely to be held up at customs, longer wait times, higher chances of getting stolen.

Do not buy insurance I'm screwed if it gets lost, but fast shipping times, No wait at customs, and less chance of some one stealing it since it's such a low value listed.

aj

p.s overall one way or another I get screwed

Gene that really blows man, It be nice if you got to introduce that thieving piece of s#*t to your battle mistress! :D

Kiahs, thats awesome of you to offer the refund!!!

Could someone please tell me just how USPS insurance works. If I ship a $100 Benchmade and insure it for $500 will I immediately get $500 if it's stolen?

It is the USPS, the process has got to be convoluted, or I am wrong and the claim process is simple??????
