Pocket Clip VS No Pocket Clip

I always wear mine clipped to my right rear pocket. Never have lost a knife yet and I always know where it is at.

I also prefer pocket clips. Their usefulness far outweigh their down falls. I guess I am just part of the generation that has always used a knife with pocket clips. The only knives that I ever edc'd without pocket clips were my SAKs. I think that pocket clips add to the purchase of the knife when thumbing it open. Also I already carry a SOG powerplier and sometimes a RAT3 the addition of another belt sheath would begin to get heavy. If not for the pocket clip I would not be able to carry my knife when I go jogging and biking. In my opinion the pocket clip adds to the usefulness of the knife and makes it more likely that you will have your knife with you when you need it most.

I prefer pocket clips, they're especially useful when I go to the gym (the only time I will ever wear shorts) and I dont have any pockets. Just clip it to the waistband.

Clip for sure. I hate knives bouncing around in my pockets, I like them to stay in place securely.

On larger folders (around 2.75"+ blade, that aren't SAK's or slippies) I prefer to have a pocket clip. I don't like carrying asheath on my belt. Draws attention and is slower to access.

I use the clip on my Native and Delica, but usually prefer knives without. The clip usually detracts from the fit in the hand, and feels less secure to me. I'm from the 110/112 generation before clips, and became used to a sheath or pocket carry.

For my primary EDC, I want ease of access without having to fight with whatever else is in the pocket. Put me down as a Clip-It fanatic.

Chris:) :) :)

No pocket clip for me. I have one folder in my collection with the pocket clip on, otherwise I always remove them. I carry in right front pocket or rear next to wallet. EDC is G10 Cara Cara. It doesn't bother me in the pocket and the advantages with ergonomics are much more valuable to me than anything a clip offers. Buck 110's / 112, SAKs, Natives, Stockmans and Opinels are all carried like this too. They have their place, but that's usually not with me.

depends on the weight of the knife to me. some are just to thick or heavy to clip in my pocket. but i only carry those if i hike anyways. so they go on the belt. but a smaller thinner, lighter one out and about people i clip.

I am turned off them , except for shirt pocket use . That only works for small gents folders .

They are OK for IWB , outside of that i dont like broadcasting what i'm carrying .

I enjoy having them as a conveniance but for smaller folders (Boker Subcom) they aren't needed.

The clip does scratch things especially car paint when squeezing into your car when joe dickhead parks real close to you.

But for consistent knife placement in a tactical situation, a clip is essential for a consistant practiced draw from the pocket. Muscle memory drills work only if you can do the exact same thing 100% of the time.

I carried with a pocket clip for a couple years off and on. I never really liked it because I ended up scratching things when I passed by (could be because I'm a klutz).

I also agree with those who say it ruins the ergonomics of the knife. Knives are so much more comfortable in the hand without the clip, expecially for long term use.

It also broadcasts that you are carrying a knife. And in our paranoid world, the less its noticed the better.

I wil say that I find it convenient when I spend several hours opening or taping boxes. It's easier, but not a necessity.

It depends on the knife and the situation. I'd say I like the clip but sometimes remove it.

For typical EDC (I don't work in an office much,) I clip my knives into the FOB pocket of my jeans and work pants.

As I tend to put my keys in the right pocket, I will sometimes clip the knife to my belt on the right side. For an alternative carry method, I use a snap-buckle Benchmade pouch. The clip stays attached, goes over the opening, and the pouch flap covers it. This makes for a very secure carry.

Cheers,
Joe

I typically do not like what clips do to my pockets over time. I have tried and even been moderately successful at not using one but always seem to drift back to them. Mostly its due to several things. One, I like not having my knife get all beat up and scratched by keys and pocket change. Two, I prefer and often times carry a lockback and those are prone to lint build up in the lock that can cause problems if you carry your knife deep. As a result I prefer the clip option. Even though pocket clips can and do eat up pockets over time and even can get snagged and/or bent out they are the lesser of the two evils in my opinion.
