Pocket sheath/pocket carry help please

Finally made it to a Tandy store and got some remnants and proper tools. Whipped this one out last night but I'm not really feeling the flap thing so I think I'll go back to a plain slip pouch.

For storage, briefcase, etc, I like the flap. For pocket carry, I am flapless. :)

a year or so ago, keeps the knife vertical and not real bulky, pretty decent retention, was my third attempt at carving and stamping, ive grown to show some restraint since then:) here it is warts and all

I don't know their reasoning on this one. First, it doesn't fit the product. SEcond, it comes with a Carabiner clip to hang it-off whatever you're wearing. Seven + ozs would likely soon take a toll on the jeans belt-loop, let alone get mightly annoying flopping around. However, I found it makes a plumb-dandy sheath for my SAK Explorer~!

I just don't have any problem with the mouth being open. I carry a Main Street pocket slip that basically molds closed after a week or so of wear.

I like how the mainstreet molds closed hoping my new one will do that too. I just received it yesterday and haven't used it yet. In your experince does the standard size KSF pocketslip mold shut like that too?

Its cool to see all the pocket sheaths! Another solution I may have missed already is using a handkerchief or a bandanna folded around the knife then stuck into a pocket. Works pretty well, light, cheap etc etc. And plus you have a handy handkerchief with you at all times!

Yes, but not as much.

Nice work!

Outstanding!

I have not tried a KSF specifically, but hot water would speed up the molding process…

put oiled knife in plastic bag, insert in pocket slip, soak in boiling water for 10 minutes

I have not tried a KSF pocket slip, but it should also shrink and mold when wet.

btw, do not store a knife in a leather sheath long term. In damp climate, leather holds moisture that can condense on the knife.

Since moderators censor links, feel free to contact me by email for info on other sheaths Ive tried and where to get them. I am just a consumer, I do not sell anything.

Here's one of mine from KSF. Shown with a small fixed blade but works equally well with a folder.

Beautiful fixed blade pocket sheath, how much does it weigh?

Case also make some suede pouches that have a velcro closure:

I took the Case large suede pouch and cut off all the velcro and sewed the sides to make a little slip sleeve. I really like it because it keeps the knife vertical in my pocket (the suede is grippy on the fabric) and I can pull the knife out without even taking the pouch out of my pocket most of the time.

Email or PM are appropriate lines of communications for things upon which the forum rules place limitations.

"censored" is a stronger word than I would use. Obeying rules is not censorship. When we signed up at BF, part of the terms and conditions we all signed was to obey the rules.
