Podcast centered around slip joint making/traditional knife history - The Catch Bit Show

Great looking Canal Street knives there Charlie, thanks for posting them!!!
We have had the great fortune to have hosted so many wonderful guests with amazing stories to tell.
There are several knife podcasts out there but none can boast the amazing people we have had on.
Thanks all, for supporting our (ad free) labor of love show.
Eric Albers was our latest guest and as our friend Charlie says, "Don't miss it" :)

Good looking knives, Charlie! I was just getting into collecting traditional knives right toward the end of Canal Street’s time. There were definitely some available here and there, but I was focusing more on GEC at the time and didn’t pick any up except for the 2015 BF knife. In hindsight, of course, I should have snagged a few.

On the other hand, I did kind of get in on the ground floor, so to speak, when it comes to Albers Cutlery Co. Here’s one of Eric’s first 15.

I really enjoyed listening to this episode of the podcast. It was great, of course, to hear Eric talk about working on the Guardians knives, and I really enjoyed learning a bit about how he got started making knives and what got him to where he is today. Heck, I even enjoyed the technical talk, and learned about some techniques and learned some terms I hadn’t heard before.

I just listened to it again!! I hope my big mouth hasn't besmirched you, Ken!!
I have nothing but great respect for you!!
Charlie,
I was surprised and humbled that my name came up in the podcast and very appreciative of the kind comments!

I have never been too much on podcasts, actually discovered I had the Apple podcast app on my iMac, lol, found it and that was the first one I listened to !

I will be spending early mornings swilling my coffee which resembles road tar, and catching up on them.

I am not sure I have ever thanked you for not only encouraging me but also showing an interest in my work. It is obvious from your participation in episode 22 you are a major force in the slip joint world and have helped many other knife makers further their craft! Thank you!

waynorth, It seems that Eric started out as "Mr. Productivity". :)
CuzDoug85, Yes, Eric certainly builds a great knife.
btb01, Beautiful picture of one of Eric's best. And yes, neat to hear his stories.
ken erickson, Good to hear you tuning in. :)
Signalprick, Great to see you here my old friend.
Heynowwww, Nice picture of a fine knife.
waynorth, I've listened to that episode more than once myself. :)
Enactive, I've learned a few things from Eric as well.
Campbellclanman, Have a great trip my friend!!!
mrknife, Charlie inspires all of us!!!

Eric definitely sounds like Mr. Productivity!

I kick myself slightly now. In the 1993-1998 period I used to regularly drive route 209 from the mid-Hudson Valley to Pennsylvania. I would drive through Wurtsboro, Summitville, Ellenville, Napanoch, Wawarsing and Kerhonkson several times a year, but I didn't realize the rich knife-making history and activity there.

Schrade and Imperial (formerly Ulster) would have still been operating in the area in that time, no?

I'm glad you finally got Eric on the show! I just got a chance to listen, and thought it was great. Of course, I'm one of those nerdy knife guys who likes the technical talk...
