Podcast centered around slip joint making/traditional knife history - The Catch Bit Show

Finally!!!
After touching base and setting down I had the opportunity to listen to Eric’s two episodes.

Man Eric sounds like a great down to Earth real nice guy!
Loved the tech talk, real interesting hearing Eric’s work history and how he got to where he is today.

I still have a couple of Eric’s earlier Knives - the Bladeforums knife and also Eric’s Jack, two extremely nice Knives, now accompanied by the very latest Lambsfoot that was the Brain child of Barretts adventure with Eric. 😊👍

It will be very interesting to hear him come in the show again, perhaps showing off his two bladed release?
Nice work Gents. As per usual a great listen.
Always makes me want to go out and buy more knives when so listen to this show 🤣

I caught up today on the empty bus drive home...ONLY ONE PROBLEM..Erics enthusiasm is infectious....so now I'm
a hankerin' for a new Albers knife. The guy has the energy and motor of a Pirhana on a baby Capybara..Inspirational!
And do I detect a slight jealousy from Lord Charles? In the form of impersonation? I was Kinda reminded of Johnny Two Times out of the The Irishman Scorsese fillum....
Nevertheless great chat Really Enjoyed it.
Cheers....

Mike Moran's knife show was of a different kind for sure!!
Getting to know a bunch of talented knifemakers, and getting a taste of the American Southwest, sounds like an adventure not to be missed!! I have to get there next year!! I hope it happens!!

BTW I still have an Erics Jack....I had 2 !...gifted the other one to a good mate who gave me support and "mateship" during the crisis I went through a few years ago.
I doubt he appreciates it...the guy makes steel for armourplate and mining machine blades...Mates are Mates and I like to think I can pay that forward..

Ken mentioned Terry Davis in the podcast!! He is a great and generous person!! I am no longer sure if he is still making knives, but he was a proud single-author knife maker, processing steel and bone fully by himself. In his heyday, a few short years ago, you had to enter a lottery at the Oregon show, for just a chance to buy one of the knives he brought!! Here are some of his knives, 2 HJs he made for me, and a Saddlehorn!!
Terry used traditional "old school" knives as models for his creations!!

meako, glad to hear that the talks with Eric inspired you to search out one of his knives.
Charlie, WOW, what a fantastic collection of custom knives from Terry Davis and Ken Erickson!!! Thanks for posting them.
I'm starting to think that all these custom makers are actually pretty decent guys with a more than a bit of talent. :)
With Ken's permission, here is a picture of him and his incredible sportsman's knife at the 2015 Janesville knife show in Wisconsin.
A great guy with some equally great stories as shared on the latest podcast.

Oh to turn the clock back, If I am still a wee bit fit when I retire, I am hoping there is a Blacksmith nearby, I have always wanted to be a Blacksmith- what they do is incredible - that would of course lead to me Making a few fixed Blades, but I don't think for a minute I will ever get to build a Traditional Pocket Knife.

I am going to do some drawing today so I will catch up with the gang with Ken.

Edit: Awesome! I hope Ken comes back- that was really interesting, and fingers crossed he will start up again soon, Thank you Neal, Mike and Ken for this great show.:)👏

I just listened to your podcast, Ken. It was wonderful to hear your story and I'm truly glad I listened in!
I put this little Swayback in my pocket today just because it felt like the right thing to do. I think I got it in 2008 from a forum member who let it go. I'm glad I ended up with it.
I appreciate the effort that Mike and Neil put into the Catchbit Podcast!

I missed this knife, when I was posting Terry Davis's knives, above!! (posts #327 and 328)
Bernie Levine would call it a Crown Moose, or a Coffin Moose!! I prefer the second name, Coffin Moose!! At 4 1/4" inches it's a good-sized knife, made 15 years ago when Terry was at the peak of his career!!Crown Davis Podcast M 1.jpgCrown Davis Podcast P 1.jpgCrown Davis Podcast T 1.jpg
Made in 2009 in CPM-154!! Half-stops, and flush in all positions, it's a fantastic custom knife!!
