Police Model?

hello guys, I need a little bit of advice from you: I am looking into getting a Police 4 LW in VG10, I like the fact that it's a big slicey blade with a low profile in the pocket and relatively light for its size. the only thing that turns me down is the tip, I've never seen this knife IRL and I cannot before buying it. the question is, is the tip fragile like in the Military 2? I am really afraid to use that knife for piercing tasks lol, and I am afraid the Police 4 is the same deal.

please advise and save me $150 before it's too late lol.

cheers.

The Police 4 LW blade has a relatively thin tip compared to say a Pacific salt, but I'd say it's a little less delicate than the Military 2 I also own. That being said I have ground down the spine of mine a little to get an even more pointed tip (it comes out of the box with a slightly rounded down tip, like a delica) and after 3 years it has held up for me fine. It also depends what exactly are you going to pierce? I've shoved mine through some pretty thick cardboard without issue, if you're thinking fleshy tissue and hitting bone I have no experience there but I'd imagine it'd hold up. Also if you buy from national knives it'll run $123 after creating an account and logging in :)

thank you for your answer. I live in Europe, the prices are jacked up af here :))

The only Police Model I have ever broken a tip on is a first generation that went through a snowblower. Don't use it for a screwdriver or crowbar and you should be fine. Same with the Military. Unless by "piercing tasks" you mean stabbing car doors.
