Oh...and I don't think I'll be able to get another with the coming baby, but I must say that I wish I hadn't paid what I paid for mine. Regardless, I love the SFNO and am happy with the knife in general. Mine needs a bit of a refresh but it's a great knife and I'm happy to have it as my all-arounder.

If I had gotten it for less money I would have been VERY happy.

Now...as for the beautiful one-off KnifeHunter sold me at a loss...I'm PERFECTLY content paying what I paid for it, as it won't be used anytime soon.

You had the od green coated SFNO hadn't you? With the standard scales? I loved that combo:cool:

It was jungle green, but yeah, that's the one. Before I knew you, you asked me to sell it to you, but I take a while to warm up to folks. Sorry. Since that time, I've sold a non-INFI knife to a friend in the Netherlands (not Busse-tough by any means - I'm part of a gang of chef knife addicts). Well, now I know you and if I ever get a knife you want and I don't, I won't be so shy.

Am I mistaken about something? Doesn't a full convex (aka "zero edge geometry") offer the advantages of both the saber and full flat grinds? Wider just under the spine than a full flat, and thinner behind the edge than a saber.

Those advantages and drawbacks all depend on the actual widths of the involved bladeshapes, so you can have a fully convexed knife that's thinner or thicker than its other examples. It's very rare that any type of grind is better than another no matter what.

In the case of the sabre ground SFNO's, they're pretty much exactly what you're describing (thick near the spine, quite thin at the edge) for a fully convexed blade with most of its girth just below the spine, only with more visual appeal. The bottom line is that we all want what we want and we want it now (or almost now if there are more pressing bills to be paid). I was just trying to be funny with my comment about convexing you.

I'm drinking Mikey and I believe it was a quick pun at convexing YOU (not the knife) so we can carry on and grab whatever is offered.... but then again I'm drinking.....

You, sir, hit the nail on the head.

I have been accused of being obtuse. Therefore, I shall be oblique.

Saber Grind. Cuz' it just sounds cooler.:D:D

Seriously, I want the saber because of the aesthetics more than anything. I've handled both and I'm not convinced one is stronger than the other.

Same here! Well, I haven't handled both, but I really really like the looks of the saber grind (including the wunnerful wunnerful look of its thin edge).

I have a Flat grind custom now. A saber ground one would be what I want for sure...
