So after you get one, sheaths will follow?
I don't doubt it, but Nathan mentioned that one of the reasons the NK preorder likely won't include a sheath, is because the heat treat may result in slight differences in the Sori (curve), so it'll be up to the owners to send their particular NK to have a sheath made/fitted to their specific NK.

I’ll have to do some experiments and maybe find out from Nathan and Jo what the range of variance is (roughly), but if it’s not ridiculous (doubt it will be) then properly planned leather will account for the adjustments and take the form of its final sword. Luckily I’ll be seeing them in a few short hours and can talk about it 👍🏼

Yeah I think leather will probably be fine. Kydex could be a problem. We know from experience that our heat treat will cause some significant changes to the blade shape, which we're going to account for, but its impossible to say for certain what kind of range we're looking at until they're done.

The K18 moved some, but being a double edged design (somewhat symmetrical the movement was somewhat canceled out), but the rapid quench of our Delta protocol will cause the spine and the edge to go through their transitions at different times and our blade shape will change some as a result. This is called sori and it has been an issue for a loooong time. We have a general idea of the amount (this is not our first rodeo) but it is an imperfect science and there will be a range.

I personally think this is really exciting. I believe traditionally the differential heat treat with clay quench produced sori that was to a certain degree not entirely predictable with traditional swords, anyway, so it's kind of cool to think that each one will be a little different.

It's been a few hours, time to talk about it!

You may not have met Humboldt County yet! Then there are Trinity, Shasta, Del Norte and other rural northeastern counties where respect will be met with like reciprocity. I wouldn't act like a big swinging d*ck and an a**hole around the locals in any of those. In other words, not the Kali to be made fun of ;)
Comifornia it’s all the same
