Not gonna read all this so tell me i own 24 Kershaw no ZT as of yet where do I fall in all this ?

According to all the poll options, you are not gonna be a member with no ZT! :( Sorry, come back later bearing a ZT and then they'll let you play.:)

I was copying this from post #1 of this thread and from the poll results that are right above it.

I have lots of Kershaws, in fact I have been carrying my S30V Blur this week, but between my lack of income this year and too many recent knife purchases I'm probably not going to be in a position to buy a new ZT for quite awhile.

I understand the situation, I am in a similar one. As Bob pointed out, depending on what you own you would still be part of the group if you did not have
a ZT. You would just fall under the Kershaw side of it and not the Zt side. Pretty much every every proposal as 1 zt being a requirement. The points based system would most likely be changed as well to 1 =1, as I previously pointed out to you. Hope this explains it a little better.

Hi Chris, It honestly depends one what the final requirements are. We are just trying to figure out the best way to figure it out to have some guidelines but still let everyone that wants to, join easily enough.

Not true. As I previously stated, If you own no ZT's, you would just fall under the Kershaw side.

As one of the newer members of the alleged "Kershaw Mafia", I've hesitated to read this thread.

Personally, I think there's no reason to start a new "Group". Kershawholics already exists and is open to anyone who's a fan of Kershaw/ZT/KAI. If there's a need to start a new group, then it should be open to anyone who's a fan of Kershaw/ZT, regardless of posts in this sub-forum or knives owned.

This is the best idea I've seen yet.

And I held back on the reply to the comment that dealt with the Kershaw Mafia, sub closing, etc. So many things just plain wrong with that one...

I see what you are saying, I dont know how much of the threads youve read, but we are looking for something in between the Kershawholics and the Kershaw Mafia. Obtainable by all but not freely open. Something that is built by a lot of us Kai fans, is active and fun.

I would have been interested to see your reply

I should have a special title, as I can almost guarantee that I own more Kershaws and ZTs than anyone in NYC. :D

What does "Kershaw side" mean? Are you just half a member? Are you a junior member since you own knives from the less expensive side?

Really? Come on now play nice!
It would read something like Order of KAI - kershawaholic or Order of KAI - Zed Heads. Either way you are part of the group. Can't make it any easier to read than that.

Really stupid question. Is this supposed to be another Kershaw Mafia? Because if it is, you're doing it wrong.

Interesting group dynamics, the whole special members thing. Would make a great academic paper just on Bladeforums alone. Hogs, Beckerheads, K-Mafia, Rat Pack, etc. And then there's all the spin off forums.

It seems to me that some get the wrong impression in terms of the intent of this group's idea. Perhaps though, I'm getting the wrong impression, because mine is certainly different from what I'm reading on the critical end of this.

I like the point system, I like the requirements. Obviously, since I can fulfill them all I'm a bit biased towards a positive opinion. However, I doubt that should this whole thing come to fruition, that it would end up being such a stone-solid recruitment regimen that has no flexibility in either direction. Sure, I've only had an account on BF since April, however of my 450+ posts, 98% of them are in this subforum. I don't post in other manufacturer's forums (not yet at least), and I rarely post in the General areas. Just not me, and my interest is primarily here, because I'm kind of obsessed with Kershaw/ZT products. While there are many that love the brand, love the products, etc., there are others who are a bit more interested, some even obsessed. I fall into that category, and the folks who are trying to pioneer this endeavor are likely in the same boat.

I feel the need to point these things out because I don't dig the idea that everyone can join this proposed group just because they bought a knife and say they love it. Harsh, perhaps, but the whole nature of a group/club/whatever rides on some kind of exclusivity. It doesn't have to fall entirely on one's disposable income, and the intent and attitude towards community participation is key, but at the same time, I feel there should be somewhat strict standards.

I would appreciate some flexibility, however that flexibility is best left as padding to a point system (as proposed) or other requirement system. Say they have a million points because they're rich or work for a dealer, or whatever. If their post history shows a bad attitude and a distaste for helping folks with information (or they're just bitter trolls), then they wouldn't be a good fit. If someone misses points or just doesn't have the means to go out and collect, but they have a great outlook on things, are helpful, and generally care about what they say and the knowledge they convey, then again, flexibility should expressed in their joining.

I assumed this was all for fun primarily, and to knit a tighter community among enthusiasts. I'm all for it, and like the requirements that have been discussed, and I don't think people should be so opposed to or worried about it. There's no sense in criticizing something that hasn't happened yet.

SticktoDrum, great post. With the point system a person gets a point for being recommended by a current member. This I think will add a lot of flexibility. If there is someone who is showing the attitude we want then recommend them, if multiple people recommend them this will speed their entry into the group. If we are talking a 10 point entry, and they get 3 recommendations, thats almost 30% of the points right there.

In the OP were I brought up this idea I have been keeping it updated for anyone who wants to refer back for info, or for updates. There is a Kode of Konduct there, 2 of the rules are set in stone as they were passed down from Jimmer5. The rest of it we will decide on, input is appreciated.

Great stuff guys. thanks to those of you who gave good feedback and comments. looks like this has sied down and we got all we are going to get from it. I am going to close it down 1 day early. Thanks again, and look forward to more info regarding this in the near future!

I do believe we will end up going with a points system due to majority, and the ease of becoming a member.
