Was at the factory sometime mid-late 2009, but couldn't buy anything (was a Case & lower collector, and the prices of these shocked me a little - if I had only known...😲). I left the store empty handed, but my eyes had been opened!

So by mid 2010 I decided I should splurge and get my first one. A 2010 48 cobblestone jig bone trapper. While it has moved on, I appreciate it for being the first of my collection of excellent pocket knives - users and "safers" - and the beginning of a friendly relationship with the kind & hardworking folks in Titusville!

My first (and only for years!) was a Red Linen #71 Bullnose (a 2014 model, I think) that I got from a friend here (who hasn't posted or visited in years :( ) in a deal we did back in 2015 to the best of my recollection. I'll have to post a pic up at some point. It's got a heavy dark patina on it now from all of the fruit and meat it's cut, and even used it as a whittling knife for a while. It's still snappy, right and tight, and a permanent part of my collection. It wasn't until late 2018 when I started getting seriously into GECs, and I was thrilled to get a new Red Linen 71 rest next to it in my collection drawer during the 2021 drop!

I’m not sure. It’s whenever the 25’s came out. Bought directly from Ryan Daniels at the knife show in Dalton GA. One of them was made on my wedding day in august of 08.

In 2009, bought this beautiful single blade elk 23 directly from the GEC booth at a knife show. If I remember correctly it was Christine Tucker that sold it to me. I even actually got a bit of a deal on it because of the stupid ATM at the show. The knife was like 25 bucks more than I had taken out of the ATM when I got there and the ATM was being weird and wouldn't let me do another withdrawal but I kept coming by the booth and looking at the knife. I finally asked if there was any way they could hold the knife while I left the event to go try to find another ATM... she just let me buy it anyway even though I was 25 short.

2013 was my first GEC purchase, the 2010 #89 Exec Whittler in Ebony. My only other GEC purchase that year was the #86 Krack-A-Jack Gunstock.

I have received my first GEC from an almost unknown (to me 😳) gentleman I had helped to order a knife from a sardinian knifemaker.
He sent the knife as a gift for my help. When I shown it to friends of mine they asked if I knew him? I answered "only his name" . So they said "It's Charlie Campagna one of the best specialist of the American cutlery".
The moral of the story is : Never hesitate to help somebody you don't know 🤣

What a fantastic story and good lordy what a bombshell of a first GEC!

My one and only I bought in 2018 but didn’t start carrying it until this past fall.I had eyed them for awhile but never pulled the trigger on one until then.

When I seen the moose I thought it was a neat pattern. At the time there were plenty in stock so I was able to take m my y time and decide what I want.

I honestly don’t pay much attention to them now except for admiring other peoples ones the post. The difficulty of getting one now for me is not worth it. Honestly kind of takes the fun out of it in my opinion. But that’s just me.

My one and only.

That moose run was one of the last runs I remember sitting on shelves readily available for a while and me waiting to pull the trigger... then it was too late lol. That and the Pembertons might have been the last GECs to ever actually be "in-stock" anywhere.

Yeah. I remember at the time I had a few other GEC’s on a wishlist at a certain dealer. Shortly after buying the moose the items on my wishlist were all out of stock.

Same here. I had some in dealers wishlists and I had been waiting to pull the trigger on a Calf Pen for quite a while. Luckily once I started noticing everything going out of stock I managed to at least grab my Calf Pen before they were all gone.
