Ponder not .45 vs 9mm.....perhaps peruse the perfection of the polymer platform.

Early Kimbers were great; later Kimbers have had some issues. I'm evaluating a Kimber TLE2 now, though, that I like.

That being said...(now read it this time) a Glock always goes bang when you pull the trigger. (it's just a shame you have to pull the trigger so many times to hit the target ;) )

Oh...I definitely gotcha the first time, Chuck. Just offering up a different perspective on gun ownership. ;)

Btw...if you wanna put me in your will for one of those beautiful, hand-built 1911's, I'll be glad to hand it on down to one of my grandkids 50 years from now. And I promise to take GOOD care of it--Just as long as I can still use my 19 for carry. :D

My overall favorite 1911s are Ed Browns. I have four of them, and have a line on a fifth one. Among them, my favorite is my Special Forces Carry:

Note that it has a plain slide (no lettering). The grips are slim.

I carry a G19 at work and its' a very good gun for it's intended use as a combat side-arm. (I did have to get used to having no Safe switch on it, made me feel nervous at the beginning, although I know a Glock is as safe as any other pistol out there)

I prefer my personal HK USP 9x19 mm when target practicing though.

The best results however, I achieve with my Browning BuckMark in .22LR :D

I'd love a 45 ACP Colt-clone, but it's very hard to get a firearm permit overhere in Belgium :grumpy:

Ken...that Brown is ! I LOVE the sterile slide. Man...for aesthetics and ergonomics, you just can't beat a 1911. Beautiful stuff there.

The sterile/plain slide is a no-cost option for Ed Brown 1911s.

I can see myself owning something like that later on, when I'm richer, older, and maybe more of an enthusiast. For now, though, my Glocks and Smithy serve my purposes well.

My life is protected daily by Herr Glock's design. The model 26 for concealed carry and the 21 when BIG BANG is called upon. Of course there is the S&W 29 for when things get out of hand.

Bikers have a saying "Chrome don't get you home". The classic look of John Browning's pistol is great, but the Glock design is THE work horse of pistols.

I cant bring myself to feel comfortable with 7 rounds in a 1911 when you can get 13 in a 21sf or an xd.

13 may be better than seven, but if you get yourself into a jam and 7 rounds won't do it, 13 rounds may not either. It's not always about how much lead you put down range; where exactly you put it is much more important. :) I understand your point though, and the XD is certainly a fine weapon.

Never had a bit of trouble out of either one of my XD's. I got the 45 for the house and the 9 for carry but I seem to grab the LCP more often than the 9mm.

I do love my XD's though and they are alot of fun to shoot too.

Lunde, you have some of the nicest guns. How about some pictures of your Detonics.

P9S? In 9mm or .45 Auto? How about both?

Both are wearing Nill grips.

Here is the 9mm one with the factory grips:
