Possible problem with Cburgerjr

Update: 4/3/13 Still have not heard from Cburger. I saw that he finally contacted Mono, but I still have heard nothing.

Made a deal with Monofletch last night. CburgerJr is going to ship my knives to Mono, and he's going to ship my knives to me. Looks like I will finally get my knives soon:)

whenever I email him, i get a response from postmaster@ses-i saying the email address cant be reached

Texted cburger yesterday and told him he has til monday to give me a tracking number or some proof of postage.

After texting him and getting a response, I told him he has a week. It's been two. Tomorrow I'm filing against him for mail fraud and/or theft. If mods are watching, I guess you could ban him, but he's already stolen my Benchmade, so it's pointless now. Sucks that I'm the one he decided to screw over. After this experience,if I dont get what i traded for, I'm done trading using bladeforums.

He's got a week to follow through with the trade or he will be banned permanently.

you have every right to post his email, phone number and mailing address here. maybe someone lives near. you can also file a fraud claim with the postal service.

Just get rid of him. I told him in this thread (and through email) he had a week (passed) to take care of ALL his business or his account would be banned.

Sorry for your trouble Cave Johnson and I hope you get to a resolution with this issue.

I sent CJ an email about 2 weeks ago, melaining that he needs to pursue the route of pressing charges with the proper authorities. There is nothing we can do anymore. The guy is banned now and is not coming back. Cmplaining here isn't going to get things resolved, complaining to the US postal inspectors is a whole different matter.

Cave,
that didn't do a dang thing for me when I got ripped off in a trade. I reported him on Dec 14 2012. When you report the fraud they will tell you that you will be contacted and not to inquire about your claim.
I'm still waiting.

My point is I wouldn't bother with the USPS. They will likely only add to your frustration.

And good luck with any law enforcement helping you out as well if your loss is not in the multiple thousands of dollars. Your local police will probably not want to deal with it since the thief is not in their jurisdiction, and the police in the thief's jurisdiction will probably not want to deal with you since you are out of theirs. The FBI will pursue Interstate fraud, but again, it's got to be big bucks.

Sorry to have such a negative take on this. Maybe someone here has successfully used the USPS or law enforcement to recover a knife or two lost in a bad trade here.
I can't remember reading such anyway.

Oooops. CJ Cave Johnson, not CburgerJ. Never mind. It has been a long week.

:D

This is interesting. Seems like CBurger at least "tried" to do right (in the other thread at least.)

In any case, it is well understood that the mods can only do so much and going the postal inspector route is the logical escalation point but has anyone actually done this? How does it work? And has anymore had success? I don't mean in this particular case (cburger) but in general.

I understand that this may require its own thread and I am happy to start one if that helps.

Eventually this will all start showing up on GOOGLE whenever someone conducts a name search. I would think employers and prospctive employers might not appreciate seeing their employee's name attached to words like thief, scammer, crook.

All over a few bucks.................

If you feel that there is a clear case for mail fraud, you file a complaint with your local law enforcement and then submit your info to the postal inspectors here: https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/mlntrcvd.aspx#
The Postal Inspection Service will then investigate your case and if mail fraud is found, the offending party may be arrested, fined, imprisoned or all of the above. (If people followed thru with this more, people like "Blade Bandits" would get shut down faster).

.....and Yes, In my time here I have seen several members take this route and achieve success.
Some get their product back. Some get monetarily compensated and some only get the satisfaction of knowing they put a thief where he belongs. Each case may be different. In some cases One may have to also persue the offender in small claims/civil court.
In my own experience...... there was a "Christmas Everest Katana" (Silver/jeweled scabbard with handle carving...$1000+) that was apparently ordered by an individual using a stolen credit card. Proper authorities notified and all information were sent as soon as we were notified. Nearly 4 months later we were very happy to hear that the thief was in jail and that we would receive the Katana back as soon as it was released from evidence. Luckily that beautiful blade returned to us still in perfect condition.

As this does probably merit it's own discussion. I will copy our posts to their own thread.
