Ok fine, let's talk about dog attacks.

Yes almost anything is better than a knife in a dog attack... But the point is you don't know when that is going to happen. You have a edc knife on you a very muscular stout poodle runs up growling.. You have no choice but to stand your ground and defend yourself.. You pull out your knife but under stress you almost fumble it trying to open the dam thing. You live with no harm done but there is a lesson to be learned. You carry a knife every day, and now you know the knife needs to be a fixed blade or a blade that will open with no hand motion needed..

Whay do you buy and why? Yes cheap fixed blade can be had but id like to have a Winkler if I'm going to carry a fixed blade.
Have a look at the TSD Combat Systems Grab n Stab.

have a look at embarking

That's true . . . if you can bark louder than him he might come sliding up to you, tuck . . . I was going to say tuck tail but dog aint got one . . . and run for his life.

I am always flummoxed and entertained when the dog is barking, barking . . . and the owner comes up and says "Hey" . . . Hey !

To me that just sounds like the dog owner is barking along. NO! or stop might be more useful if he is trained with it but "Hey" ? That's a little vague
.

Love the Brian Regan stand up on that one.

 I'm 100% sure it was a message , and 99.99% sure that you are misreading / ignoring it !

Well, hard to really tell but looks like he's defending himself and friend from medium sized dogs that keep coming aggressively.
If all I had was a knife in that instance, I'd punch the blade at them and yell as loud as I could. F the owner if I killed his dog.

I was riding a bike once and a idiot guy came out of his house, screaming at me for having pepper spray in my hand for his dog that chased me. I rode on and the dog sensing his owner's aggression towards me, decides to really come after me. I remember seeing this huge dog closing in on my right leg, mouth open running full on.

Here's a bike story (actually more than one). DEFINITELY NOT AGAINST A PIT BULL . . . but . . .
I used to train out in farm land and the dogs often would come running across a field and give chase. I was super fit ON A BIKE and I could out run them. So I have been chased a lot by medium sized dogs.
In the city, commuting to work, I have had a few goof balls that think the street is their turf and get all bity and stupid on a repetitive basis. For them I have a special service . . . I wheel around and with single mindedness to get my hands on their throat I CHASE THEM !
To a man they totally fall apart and run for their life. I once chased one across a yard, threw the bike down, into an apartment building ( the door was propped open ) and up three flights of stairs until I cornered the poor sucker cowering and trying to hide under it's self. I've chased them back into their yard around their house ( no fence ) and down the street for a block still on the bike.

Only after repeated "attacks".

Funny as hell.

Probably not the best Idea. But I enjoy it.

Proper attitude. I'm not being facetious. Most dogs can sense authority, in my experience.

OP's other newer thread re knife selection was put into PracTac , Thanks be to Mod !

Oh good. Then let's close this one. It's drifted from Dan to Beersheba (which is to say, "all over the map.")

Closed.
