Post Up Your NEW Gear ...

Have been wanting to try out a tri-zip for years and finally found one I can afford (please, no debates about origin. I'm well-versed in both sides). My Dana Bomb pack may not get as much use this summer.

Congrats on the Mystery Ranch score! I have many of their products, a few packs, pouches and EDC bags and cannot complain about any of them. Some might say its great to see their innovative designs getting produced in higher volumes. Enjoy it!

Thank mmmotorcycle. I have 6 Dana Design packs that are still going strong and numerous accessories. This is my first MR pack and likely won't be my last. I've tried out a few other brands but always come back to the group from Bozeman as our philosophies on carry and load security match.

It's been a good week.

My Velvicut Hudson Bay showed up today and I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed with the fit and finish. What I am most thrilled about though is the haft. It feels so good. Council Tool did an excellent job making it thin and narrow like the American axes of old. I can honestly say it feels even better than my Swedish ones. Excellent grain on this one too. Going to treat the handle sometime this weekend, probably do my usual boiled linseed oil with a little bit of stain mixed in.

Here is the Velvicut Hudson Bay between my Wetterlings Scandinavian Forest Axe (sadly no longer being produced) and my Gransfors Bruk Wildlife Hatchet. I bought this axe to fill the gap between those two Swedes since the Scandinavian Forest axe is slightly too long and heavy to bring along for backpacking in my opinion, it is 26" and the Hudson Bay is just over 22".

Received my sil-nylon pouches in Multicam today from Kyle at Phantom X Gear. Size XS, S, and M. These bags are great, super light, Kyle does outstanding work. The XS is even big enough to fit all my backcountry toiletries. Now to figure out what to put in the other two!

I did cut off the metal zipper pulls and replaced them with paracord as the metal ones made some noise when clanging against the slider body.

Finally got to use a few new-to-me items this past weekend.

And a little steel

I've been trying to keep my steel addiction in check and I was shocked when my wife ordered this Busse Boom Parang for me for Valentines Day. She was even more shocked when she realized how many weeks late it was going to arrive. The GB has been with me for several years and is in the pic for size comparison.

Got a few little goodies at MEC -the Canadian equivalent of REI- the other day. A pack cover for my 80L, some mini tent stakes, water proofing stuff for my rain gear and boots and some 2.5mm static cord. It's always dangerous going in there!

Tree Ring Trapper!! KOOL!! Got the stockman in that handle!! NICE!!! John:thumbup:

Hey thanks for the name of the handle. That brought up some info on the knife. Bought it used but brand new. It's got 199 stamped on it so figured it's a limited edition. Saw it and liked it. First slip joint in a long time for me. I'm liking the size and sharpness of the blades.

You'll find that those stakes are excellent.
