h&b forge lady's tomahawk.

compared to the larger shawnee...the lady's should be a perfect match for the emberlit. i always felt like the shawnee is overkill for it and more suited to full blown camp fire prep.

Very cool man.

thanks, warrior! i'm liking these tomahawks so much i haven't used any of my gb axes in a long time - so much so i'll start getting rid of them i think. i haven't found anything the gb can do better enough to outweigh their increased weight, short of taking down a dead standing tree.

I really like the size of that lady hawk. I have a GB Wildlife, as well as a Roselli. I like them both, but rarely use them. I use a large knife more times than not.

My new cook set. A Swedish military trangia, Blackthorn USA bottle, GSI cup, Stanley cup lid, and a Pathfinder bottle stove.

A couple of packages arrived this week. Delivered were an Osprey Kestrel 48 backpack, a Marmot NanoWave 35 sleeping bag, and a ThermaRest NeoAir Trekker airpad. I picked up these three items new for 58% of normal retail and only paid shipping on one item. There are a ton of great deals right now on backpacking and camping gear. If you've been looking to upgrade your gear or lighten your load, now is a great time to buy. Spend some time shopping around online, and you might be pleasantly surprised at the deals you can find.

That's the one short coming of the GSI cup. No lid.

My son and a lady friend of his are backpacking in the Monongahela now. I was invited to go but didn't have the available time. I'm sort of green with envy of them this morning.

Kelvinator hooded jacket by Mountain Hardwear. 80% down. Packs into one of the pockets. Perfect for under my 1940s Anorak

Nothing glamorous at all. Just a couple of sheets of replacement Tyvek and a couple of tough bright orange garbage bags the highway department uses for roadside cleanup. One piece of Tyvek is for my tent's foot print, and the other is a ground cloth under my airpad for when I use a tarp. I've found those orange garbage bags to be better pack liners than trash compactor bags. They can also function as VS-17 panels.

Where'd you get that anorak? Pretty sweet.

On another forum. Never issued brand new 1948. Came with wool gloves tucked in the handwarmer pockets. Had to clean up a lot of thread ends the seamstress missed in 1948. Nice and heavy material. Put about 3 coats of Fjällräven Greenland wax on.
